Chauncey I think it's a good idea, man. Comprise what you think then we will give you our input on what we can change and such. People with more listening/user experience on a wider range of products would be pretty helpful, haha.

All of this is IMO

Diamond HEX Components - Great all around comps
FI SSD - Very loud, lack sq
SI BM - Good SQ, lack SPL
ED Nine.1/2/2x/4 amps - Great all around amps
Panasonic CQ7003 - Great all around indash
Phase linear UV8 - Lacks SQ, get what you pay for (cheap)
Kicker ZX series amps (1500/350) - great functionality, underrated
Kicker PKD1 (hyperflex wire) - can't be beat for price/etc.
Tc-3000 (review soon to come :-))

M.S. you seriously don't say anything positive. I mean I may be a pr!ck, but at least I'm upbeat about it. The list needs updated bad and if you think so highly of yourself why don't you do th honors? You might wanna consider TC Sounds on the list of good subs. Eh, f*ck it. Its fine without it. While were at it we'll leave off Stereo Integrity, Sundown, Atomic, JBL subs, Cactus Sounds, Adassa, and SoundSplinter.

See why it needs some updating now?

I didn't say I was the right person to do it either. Yes it needs updating but eveyone will never agree on everything. Thats why if this is going to get done, somebody non-biased needs to compile it.

i'm sure the guy that made the orginal list was biased in some way too. and with only three catergories, good bad and ugly, biased opinions really won't matter that much. even if someone thinks a certain brand is the best, the catergories are so broad it doesn't matter that much.

say someone thinks TC Sounds is best, and they'll fight to the death about it. Well it doesn't really matter does it? because everyone agrees that TC Sounds should take a spot on the "good" section of the list. see what i'm saying? update FTW.

Would we do it for subs, amps, speakers, etc?
Would we just do it for certain pieces of the system?
How would we handle controversey? Some people say Pioneer makes great Hu's while some people say they make bad Hu's because of the whole alt whine issue. With Fi, some people will say great while some will say put them on the so-so list because of the tinsel slap.
It's a good idea to update it a little; it will just be difficult and time consuming.
There's a lot to look at

I say we all take a look at the list(ABOVE), and individually make posts of where brands should be listed where possible.

In cases where certain brands are not on the list, suggestions are made regarding where it should be placed...

The order of the brands is not important as the category it is placed in.

or even better.. Lets just determine the categories and place the brands there.

My suggestion of categories;

Great job Sean, I have a few issues with it but considering the sheer numbers of items it is not bad at all.

Pioneer Premier and Pioneer hu's are identical in matching models.
No TC/AP in highly recommended subs.
Orion HCCA (new, designed by TC) are some of the best subs on the planet.
Keeker wiring is extremely nice stuff.
Crystal comps and Fi subs should be in H.R.

That's all I have without taking an hour.

Nice idea, but with out stickies it is hard to find.
Whats wrong with,
"is this Sony 10,000,000 watt max amp good?"
makes for good reading.
When I spend my cash on stuff, I like to research it from several sources. It is a good list to refer to, but asking questions after is good too.

1/5, i'll save that for the record..

BTW have you had prior experience with a kicker?
What would you compare it too? lol

Dont get me wrong im not stomping on kicker..I just want you to justify, since some persons have mixed opinions on them.....

I've heard that they have good build quality and are underrated..But what about quality and efficiency.....

Can they be put in the same class as say mmats, jl or alpine...

Way off!!!

Adassa
MTX
Rockford Power series
Diamond
Kicker
...are all High Quality amps!!!

As for the "avoid" list, I agree.

btw, Xtant, Mtx, and Coustic are all Mitek amplifiers. Crunch and Hifonics are both Maxxsonics. Directed, Orion, PPi and A/D/S are all DEI.

And what about one of thee best amplifiers out there, it isnt even listed. They're designed AND built by hand in the USA and come with a 3 year warranty, MMATS :D

Another one to add to the high quality would be Cactus Sounds.

i'd put ed amps in as good. they do rated power and then some. decent build quality it seems, not to many bad things i've read about there amps. customer service (past anyways) questionable, but as far as their amps go there good.

rayray, where would you put the ed amps and why?

3/5 votes places kicker in HQ

any different opinions.....

Seems there's different opinions on where ED goes...Can we get some input on that brand....They were spoken of very often on this forum( 2007)...but can they be compared with DLS, sifoni and Mcintosh just to name a few.....

rather than questionable section, how about a budget section. those amps in the questionable section make decent budget setups exception to a few.

Its not an easy decision, since for some mainstream companies, their products may not be the best performance-wise..As is a well known fact, some companies build (So-called) new and improved models, which are only a cosmetic upgrade...

Take for example take the Jl audio slash series..

I've tried the new slash series v2.. and the cooling is not so much better the v1. To prevent excessive heat build up, i wire my subs for a 4 ohm config.

So JK32SHO, what do u suggest we do with RD...
Is its placing subjected to your unfortunate misfortune of having a not so high quality amp...

I think the others will chime ....

Have a go at editing the list...

Lol. I actually thought about this list about 2 months ago. I started to add stuff and change stuff but it became quite a haul and I quit....after 10 minutes lol.
