That was NOT the parameters that I thought were going to be used. I, like Canaan, thought the conveyor was stationary, while spinning at takeoff speed, thus the plane moving at zero airspeed. It was said from the start that everyone was going to get this botched up.

Under the tested conditions it's obvious it would fly.

Aye ca rumba.

his bet of $100 was serious?

wow... what a stupid bet... lol

why on earth would u ever bet $100 for something so obvious... You would have been better off betting on a 50/50 black or red spot the ball will land on.

tsk tsk cannan I dunno why you actually would have bet on this?

i dont think they did it right.....

cuz why should it take off.... they cant match speeds but so well and does any1 know how fast that truck is and how he drove it or the guy in the plane.....

the propellors do not move air accross the wing to cause lift.... (well it might help but its not gonna lift the plan..)

I dunno F it i cant do the experiment so o well

Seemed pretty valid to me...Runway was going opposite that the plane was and no way the plane could out accelerate that truck. Therefor where's my money!!!???

Also, Canaan's only acception was no windtunnel IIRC...there wasnt one.

I demand my cash :D

The reason why it takes off is because of the propeller. The propeller (prop) by nature is an airscrew and regardless of how fast the planes wheels are moving the prop will cut through and provide propulsion as long as the relative air speed does not exceed the speed of the prop. Now if the speed of the air matches the weight, lift/trust ratio you get what you call a hover, will just foat in air. Also remember the prop isn't attached to the treadmill nore does the treadmill provide resistance air.... Simple... :-O Polo.

Yes it is simple to understand. The confusion was to the plane's airspeed, which is only hindered by the friction in the wheels. I believed the plane wasn't going to be traveling at ANY airspeed, only the treadmill was to be moving underneath the plane at takeoff speed. With that I was like: "Of course the damn thing won't fly".

Now if the only thing keeping the plane from attaining the airspeed needed for takeoff was the treadmill, of course it would fly. The wheels would be spinning twice as fast but the as long as the plane's airspeed was increasing the plane would fly.

Yes everyone...I made an idiot out of myself.

I will be a man of my word and pay up.

I originally looked at the wording wrong I guess and royally pwnd myself.

I posted over on ca.com quite awhile ago that I realized I was wrong and would still pay Justin even though I realized it. So, no hard feelings or anything.

Sadly, I actually forgot the show was airing last night and didn't see it. School and working 6days a week is getting to me :-(

I know plenty of punk b1tches that would've backed out of that bet after it was all said and done. He's doing it right, and that deserves respect.

Lol, please. He deserves respect in the first place but just because he sticks to his word doesn't mean he should get extra respect lol. Yes, I agree it's good that he's sticking to his word but I don't think I respect him any bit more because he's doing what he should.
