Just picked this up yesterday.. AMAZING set-up, the SQ is unreal and it has the ability to get loud. It hits EVERY note with perfect precision and quality I love it.

If your wondering why people bash JL its because they either haven't heard them in a proper set-up or simply haven't heard them at all. People must like bashing a great company with outstanding products.

IMO this is the BEST daily driver system available in the market, simply can't get any better.

nice. glad you're happy.

i've always wanted that sub and in that box but i just can't see myself pay that much for the set.

btw people don't bash jl for the quality. they bash jl for the price.

13W6v2 can move 69% more air than a 12W6v2.
13W7 can move 39% more air than a 12W7.
13W6 = 12W7
13W7 = 1.5 12W7
Interesting data..

Why would you trade a 13 for a 12? Box?
I would like to get specs on one of those boxes. Like all measurements. Then up them a bit for a 13 w6

"Why would you trade a 13 for a 12? Box? "

Yes, this box looks EXTREMELY difficult to build, not to mention all the time it took to create the design.

"agree with marc. how about a jl 18w7 in a HO box. org@sm for the ears."

they dont even make 18w7's

Yes, I didn't realize it wouldn't fit in my trunk.. there are metal bars that dip down and prevent the box from going in. All I needed was 1" smaller height and I would have been fine.

well if you have the right tools it shouldn't be that hard.

if i had a table saw and a router, i would build boxes for fun. i would even attemp to build the great jl ho box. but i don't have a table saw cause i have no place to put it. also i need a work area but my garage already has 2 cars in there so no room to work.

Yup. Tools and patience. There are too many ppl who want what they want yesterday that get themselves hurt. If you don't have ANY experience with power tools I suggest you have help. If all you're doing is screwing and gluing it's one thing. Saws and routers are another. Sometimes all it takes is turning on the router from someone who never has to have an accident.

I will be building my own boxes for my new Alpine R12's and am thinking about using the W7 type box. I was thinking about using one sealed box and one ported box to get both ranges. I have a table saw but have found a pretty easy way to rip sheets of plywood and MDF with acurate straight cuts. I have even built cabinets using this method. I have several cordless Dewault saws. I found that the edge of the blade is exactly 1" from the bottom shoe. I add or subtract this 1" depending on which side I will be cutting from. I clamp a good straight edge to the wood with 2 quick clamps and cut. You get a perfectly straight and acurate cut without trying to hold a 4x8 sheet straight in a table saw. I do use the table saw for smaller narrower pieces though and my miter saw to cut off shorter pieces.

okay, so i used to have a 10w7, in a 1.5cu tuned to 32hz...

i just bought the 12w7 in the HO, havent bought the 1000/1 yet so it is running off the 500/1

the ten definitily hit harder and got way louder... does this sound right? does it really need the 1000/1 for any of its potential or should it be pretty loud at 500?
