i want to build my own box this time cause i need to experiment with a few designs.

once i find the best box, i'll probably have someone build me a clean one with the same specs.

anyways i went to home depot and asked if they had trupan light. the workers there just looked at me like i am an idiot.

i didn't ask about birch. you think they'll have it there?

i went to home depot last night and they did have birch. but sh!t is too expensive so i ended up buying mdf. lol.

after i picked up a sheet, i went to pay for it. then i took it to where they can cut it for me. then i walked over to one of the workers there and asked him to cut it.

he was just standing around doing nothing but talking to his co workers. after 10 minutes of talking to his buddies, he starts to walk over to the saw. along the way this fukkker starts to ask every single customer he sees and asks them if they need help. at this point, i already waited 20+ minutes.

i said fukkkk this and i left the sheet there and took the receipt to the front to get my money back. after that i ended up buying 4 sheets of pre cut pieces which are 2ft by 4 ft. it was a bit more expensive like that but i was just pissed.

Yup. Depot employees are the worst. All they care about is their breaks and how to hide. Then when you get frustrated enough on waiting and attempt to cut it yourself magically someones shows up saying: "Wait! You're not qualified to operate that saw!"

Then HE cuts it 1/4" short and says: "Have a nice day."

MDF is a b1tch on the lungs. The next day after I built my box, I could still taste it. My dad told me that saw dust can stay in your lungs for years, so now next time I'm gonna invest in a mask.

Sorry I didnt bother to read the whole thread.... BUT... here is a little info I can help with.

Lowes or HD probably doesnt carry Trupan, have to go to your local lumber yard, and they should be able to order it in for you.

They do carry Birch, however, make sure your getting the correct stuff. You want to make sure your getting at least 11 ply (13 ply would be better) BALTIC birch. Regular birch ply (5-7 ply) will have a core full of voids. Not good for an enclosure.

Here is a little price comparison from where I get my Trupan....

Trupan- $.937 per sq ft of material. 2.25 lbs per sq ft.

BB- %1.11 per sq ft. 2.16 lbs per sq ft.
