Head Units that play MP3's - Suggestions?

My Sony finally went to crap, and I'm using this opportunity to upgrade to MP3 playability...any suggestions? Any good/bad stories? Is the MP3 playback pretty clean and are there not too many 'gaps' between songs? Thanks!
