Getting my friend a nice sq system. What would you guys recommend for a good sq sub system for $250(size of sub doesn't matter). doesn't want loud. Just wants good, clean, quality bass.

was looking at the eD EHQS12, only like $40 on eBay, and what amps for SQ? And it's going in a '98 malibu(i believe) with a stock electrical.

FI anything wat better than the ehqs i love my 8 cuz it was cheap but you will prolly be disapointed its not what you will expect

again not saying the ehqs suck its just not what ppl expect

amps have nothing to do with sq unless its just a pile of trash..... you wont notice any diff.

you have only 250 total to work with????

800rms would be a good number for the q and the bp option add like 400-500rms more watts

What about:
http://www.diymobileaudio.com/shop/index.php?cPath=22&osCsid=87f9cd41f1be6c87935 21e05d414e8fd

The EHQS 12 will sound clean in a sealed box. Give it no less than 2 cubes, closer to 2.5. Then he may choose to add polyfill. This is coming from experience with that sub in a sealed enclosure, BTW.

diyma reference is better for what you want than a type r also. sean on here has one for sale. diyma or the link i provided are much better sounding subwoofers than a type r.

1) "cheap" and "SQ" don't belong in the same sentence, but I know what you mean.

2) Amps don't have "SQ". In an ideal situation an amplifier would take a low level signal and make an identical high level signal. Things are not prefect though, and distortion can be created, which is indicated by the amps THD rating. As long as it's within accepted standards your good.

3) I wouldn't recommend a Fi Q *cough*tinsel slap*cough*

Did I recommend a type R? No....

there's a guy on here named sean selling a DIYMA reference for like 60 bucks shipped, i almost bought it. it'd work great for that application. buy that sub and that audiobahn amp and its like a 800 watt rms sql setup. not bad for likr 130 bucks IMO

yea he doesnt or isnt willing to spend much money so cant recomend subs that cost that much guys LOL

technically are you sure you want pure sq or just a system that doesnt sound like trash like you "want" it to sound good.....

but those reference subs dont look to bad.... id get 2 if they sell for 60

Thanks for all the suggestions!!! budget isn't necessarily set either, i think he'd spend a lil bit more, not sure how much tho. I'll talk to him tomorrow with these options, see what he thinks.

So, not the Q...because it has 'tinsel-slap', is that just like a rattling noise from the cone moving and the tinsel 'slaps' the spider or something??? lol, don't really know what that is exactly. and type R's aren't really a sq sub.

Leaning towards two diyma's, since they're single 4 ohm voice coil(2 would wire down to 2 ohms for 800 rms on the amp), and Sean's on ecoustics? might hit him up on that, should i just post a thread with his name or something, lol?

THANKS AGAIN!
