Gold Member Username: camBC Canada Post Number: 1559 Registered: Nov-06 | Theoretically, it'll do 800 watts into a 2 ohm load per channel. I'd say that's a max rating. |
Bronze Member Username: Jonny_bKellogg, Idaho U.S. Post Number: 12 Registered: Oct-07 | so if your rms rating is under 800 watts per speaker per channel then it will power a 2 ohm sub? im a bit new to this stuff, trying to get it figured out. that is what the back of my amp looks like, is each set of + -'s a channel? |

A few can, or HD quality amps can like old soundstreams; high current amps. If it says 2 ohms into 2 channels then it is 4 ohms bridged for 1 ch. Plus its a $110 amp, that tells you it is not special. If they don't give RMS ratings, well then it is likely a pyramid/china/etc amp and who knows what power you are getting, but it will not be what the peak rating says unless its on fire at 20v input or something. It will work, just not that well. |

Silver Member Username: SqcheapGrand rapids, Michigan Usa Post Number: 119 Registered: Jul-07 | I had a RUB302 on a single 4 ohm 12 and it was loud, running on 8ga wire even. Then again it was a cheaper sub and sounded nasty, certainly an SPL sub and I hated it. Now I use it for testing amps. Well, it is in a small sealed box too that did not help it. |

Silver Member Username: SqcheapGrand rapids, Michigan Usa Post Number: 130 Registered: Jul-07 | It depends on if that is RMS power or not, and how you will hook it up. I have a 700w 5ch amp that works pretty well, but a little weak on the high side for my liking. I would tell anyone to get a sub amp for subs, a class D if larger unless you have lots of power in the car. Then get the high side amp you like. On the other hand I have run 10s with a 2x60 old school amp and it worked great, but they were IB also. Worked better yet on 4 10s. |
