what is the difference between the CDA-9885 and the CDA-9887? just more features on the 9887? and anyone have experiences with either of the 2.

Yep, more features.

In particular, the 9887 uses a 24 bit burr brown DAC. (Read: absolute maximum SQ)




I considered the 9887 for my system. I wish Alpine would make a model with front panel USB input, which was an essential feature for me. Thats what made my go with a JVC KD-AR880 instead.

Yeah, I meant other than Sony, VR, the crap brands.


I like that JVC, for the most part I give it a positive review. I will warn you though seeing you live in wisconsin: that unit tends not to like temps below ~20 degrees.
