Well, my o-scope came in today.

I have been playing around w/ it off the RCA's on my PS2 for awhile...lol. Its a very basic model, originally bought in '83 but looks brand new. The guy sent me the original receipt...~$225, I got it for ~$54 shipped :-) It was in the original box and still had the plastic on it.

Gonna play around w/ it at the shop tomorrow if I get some down time.
I froze my @$$ off installing today :-( Have to remember my jacket tomorrow.

*Side note, PS2 RCA outputs will not clip w/ 50hz 0dB ref tones

A good scope is an invaluable tool for testing electronics........ and you're just the type of guy who needs one since you work in a shop and have access to test all sorts of amps :-)

I really wish I would have had this scope when that rep came by trying to get us set up w/ NRG Audio...lol.

I showed him by ear that our Clarion 400wrms amp was right w/ his NRG '900wrms'.
Literally ~10-12w less @ ~7ohm. But w/ the scope, I could have 'shown' him.

This guy said there wasn't much of a difference between his IA20.1 and the Clarion DPX11500. And you have IA20.1's and you sell Clarion so I thought it might be you. Since its not you and you have IA20.1's and you sell Clarion how do you think they compare. I would say the IA20.1 is hands down better but I don't know sh!t about Clarion amps.

Those DPX11500's are pretty mean...and yea, I can see one being close to a 20.1 at 1ohm DCR. Think about box rise and at what load each amp produces power.

The 20.1 is a dam nice amp, but when it all boils down...how many daily guys actually run amps at .25ohm??? I love my 20.1's, but if I was looking for ~1500w at 1 or 2ohm, that DPX11500 is dam tempting :-)

Also, I would dare say that the DPX11500 would actually produce more power at 4ohm reactive than a 20.1. I haven't actually done the tests, but I would say this:

Daily (for 'normal people') the DPX11500 is a very nice amp. The 20.1 is more for the nuts/SPL-comp crowd...like me :-). Nothing like daily driving strapped at 1.5ohm, then burping at 0.375ohm strapped.

How often do sale reps stop by you store with some new stuff.

Have the T3 Audio subs come your way yet?

How long have you sold Clarion amps and hows the return rate if any returns.

The rep that came by was a guy we already did business through. We got PG from them. He just dropped in one day w/ the NRG stuff. No T3. I talked my boss into picking up DD though...called em up, a rep came by and set us up.

We have be carrying Clarion for ~4-5months...only had 1 low-end sub come back, and it was just a bent basket that happened in shipping. The box looked ok, but basket was bent. Nothing blown or fried yet at all...knock on wood. Haven't sold all that much Clarion though.

We don't get much call for those around here, not many customers lean to them. Also, we are a small shop.
I have installed a few of these 7band Eq's though...seem quite nice at the price point.

Their lower end flip-screen could use some work though. Its very plain. The double din is nice though.

Oh...I have been playing about testing the M1a on our sound board. I'm getting some nice #'s from it also :-)

Tested on DD3518 d2
PERFECTLY CLEAN WAVE-FORM!
(could actually go alil more on the gain)

12.1-12.2 voltage drop.
461.34W @ 2.7ohm

The best part: 91.26% efficiency!

W/ a better batt, it would be MEAN!
Sounds amazing on the 3518.

Now for your next purchase: One of those industrial 200-300 amp DC power supplies :-)

And a set of gigantic custom made resistors so you could do true amplifier bench tests
