first of all, happy new year bud.

now on to more important things. lol.

what is your review on the cadence components. i remember you getting those last year. (meaning 2007 lol). so how does it sound?

how is the mid? does it play the guitar sounds accurately on rock? also on trance/techno, does the keyboard sound awesome?

also how is the tweeter? would you consider them to be harsh or smooth?

thanks in advance.

chad.

Hey Chad, I haven't even installed them! I am waiting on my kick pods to get in but from what I have heard they are extremely lound and handle a good amount of power. I will be powering a set of 5.25 and 6.50 off of a Kicker SX900.4, can't wait..Polo. :-O

there is a rumor that the mid uses the same driver as the dynaudio drivers. who knows. lol.

Cadence mids are not Dynaudio, they are DynaVox, a line of speakers made by the massive Li Yuan Electronic Company from Taiwan to replicate the look of the Dynaudio drivers. I have used a few pairs in the past to build price-effective home theater speakers and they are decent for what they are, I was impressed. Dynaudio no longer sells drivers to speaker manufacturers and even if they did the price of a genuine Dynaudio mid like the one DynaVox replicates would make it impossibe for Cadence to sell them for anywhere near the price they do. Cadence uses the 4 ohm version of this driver:

I mean i wish i had my own thread with my name on it and every thing...but i guess i can give u a review..

This set has a very natural sound. Very detailed and accurate. 200RMS is a bit hard to believe for long life. You can clearly hear the tweeter starting to distort at high volumes.

The mid and tweet blend very well together. Pin pointing the individual drivers becomes hard. I am a little disappointed in the midbass, but im sure the lack of sound deadening in the doors is to blame for this..(I will be doing it when it warms up a bit)

I would recommend 75-125RMS on them, start to get harsh with more power, so no need to chance it
Definitely SQ oriented drivers and XOs. Overall 7.5/10, just wish there was a bit more midbass from them.

But if you can find this set under $250 i would definitely snatch up a set

maybe i shouldn't try to half-azz it and get something really good.

couple of sets i had in mind.

dynaudio 240gt
Image Dynamics XS-65
rainbow profi
Boston Acoustics SPZ60

but the problem with all those is that they are all over $500. i don't want to spend that much on speakers and find out that the cadence is just as good.

damn this is hard.

my quest for 2008 is to have the perfect sound to my ears. lol

i hear ya rovin. i think i'll be unsatisfied real quick with these.

at least the focal utopias lasted me longer than a year. they were amazing.

the mmmats 3 way i have now are awesome too but i want to go with 2 way. i am getting sick of the kick panel getting in my way everytime i go to push the clutch.

But why spend so much on mids/highs when it is only gonna get muddled from the crap subs most people run! I myself am just looking for loud, with a listenable amount of distortion. I don't like noise or bad harmonic but then again I am still using my stock Bose components and I am dead sure these two pairs will outdue anything I am hearing now! Polo.. :-)

yeah unless i can fabricate my door panel to fit both the woofer and the mid, i don't want a 3 way. lol.

i am really considering the dynaudio 240gt. its a bit over 500 bux but i've always wanted to try them out.
