ok i finally finished my box yesterday and i had my friend come over so i could use his mcd1000 to test it out well i had it hooked up at 2 ohms so it was recieving 600 watts and all i can say is wow. The bass was really clear and extremely loud for 600 watts it was pretty close in output to his 2 15" L7s on 1100 and it sounded alot clearer. I just can't wait till i get the other one in a week.

Glad to hear you like it. I have a buddy with a 12" SX and he likes it a lot too.

"it was pretty close in output to his 2 15" L7s on 1100" - I find that very hard to believe tho.

my box for my single 15" is bigger than the one for both of his 15"s i bet that has alot to do with it. my box is 3.5 cubes tuned to 34 hz.

Got it. Cuz I had a 12" L7 for a while when my buddy had the SX. With both of them properly powered and in the right boxes, SPL was *fairly* similar with the edge going to the RE.

I heard 2 15" L7's on 1000w last sunday in a sealed box, box looked to be about 1.5 cf per sub. It was loud, but not as loud as I expected it. Not to mention is sounded poopy.

I was looking into a sx for this spring, but now im undecided on what I want. Have any pics?

i use to have 2 12" L7s on 1100 watts and i thought my 15" sx on 600 watts was close in output and way better sounding. This hits the lows that my old L7s couldn't

Believe me, the L7 will get loud on decent power in a ported box. They are by no means meant for a sealed box. The RE is a much better sub, don't get me wrong, but the Kicker can get plenty loud.

L7s in a sealed box = waste

L7's in any box, with any amount of power, in any type of situation = waste

RamRod has finally been called up from the minors.

hey brad, lakota on CA hit 150.2db on the kick and 148.3db on the dash off a single L7 15 . i don't know that i would call that a 'waste'

^^Yeah tuned to 40hz, burping. I admit though those are good numbers but that setup is not for a daily vehicle and wont sound very good at all. Most people want a loud good sounding daily setup. L7's get loud but the way they sound is debatable, most people will tell you that they sound like crap.

Do you think 1 15" L7 in a ported box (idk 35hz?) would get louder that 2 in a sealed box?
