yesterday i got done doing my passenger side door. i only had one sheet so i could only do one door for now. the shop ran out.

deadener........stinger roadkill

i took the door panel off and the plastic cover the factory used to cover up the holes.
then i cut the roadkill stuff to cover all the holes.

let me tell you guys, it makes a BIGGGGGG difference. the mid bass response from my component set is just insane now.

i would recomend this to anyone that is even thinking about it. unless your door is sealed up good already.

but let me ask you something. what benefit you get with the carboard? i was thinking of doing that but decided to just the deadener over the holes without the cardboard.

Chad people usually use MDF or Fiberglass to fill the holes to seperate the REAR and FRONT waves from mixing.

Cardboard works just as good, once you slap some deadener on the front side its nice and thick.

And I'll get back to you on the RL-S in a couple days, I don't have the money yet.

Yep, I tested mine each time I did something new. The cardboard definately made a difference. I don't believe deadener can completly filter out the waves, thats what the cardboard is for.

or

should i leave the deaderner there and put a sheet of cardboard and put another sheet on top of it?

"should i leave the deaderner there and put a sheet of cardboard and put another sheet on top of it?"

Yeah if you see in my pictures I already had deadener over the holes, then after that I put the cardboard cut-out of the hole witch deadener over top of it.

No problem chad anytime

And yeah sean those components are designed to do well in the airspace of a door, don't suffocate them

If your trunk has holes like mine did, it makes a HUGE difference. My sub was noticably louder and it completely stopped all the rattles in my trunk.

chris the whole point of us deadening the door is to make it as airtight as possible. of course to get rid of any vibrations. but we want to seal up the door. that is our main goal. at least for me it was.

you are fukkking lucky you can fit a mdf made box in your ride for you speakers. god damn it. i hate you man. lol.

i bet the mids sound clean in there.

i was thinking about doing that but i don't want to cut up my door panels.

Haha Chad...... they don't exactly "fit"

In fact I can't fit anything inside the doors, not even just a speaker cause of where the window track and power window motor are. Stock ones were in the dash.

The boxes are covered in carpet to match the door panel, and mounted on the door. In other words they stick out from the doors. Doesn't look the best, but works GREAT.

I will get pics up of my entire system soon.

not sure on exactly how much air space a speaker needs cause some companies don't put the recomended size. but when the speakers are designed, i am sure they have the space of a door in mind. i know all car doors are different size but you know what i mean.

well from a guess on my part .25-.30 should be good per 5.25 speaker

My CDT HD 5 1/4" mids require 0.05 cu.ft. for a flat response.

Yes you read that right.

wtf ur selling ur SS subs now ???

i too can feel air being lost in my front doors & can also feel the wasted energy on the doors exterior but like chad ima lazy @ss & 1 day hope to do it

???? here - u know that undercoating which can be applied with a spraygun\compressor ..well im wondering if i can buy that & spray inside the door skin since its difficult to get at it & would be faster to do but im still going to dynamat over the door panel.....

Sean:

Make sure you check what airspace your speakers specify before doing that. 6" mids take more space, for example with the CDT HD, the 6" take 0.3 cu.ft. Quite a bit more than the 5"
