The type Rs are powered by a Soundstream RUB 600.4. They are getting 300w @ 4Ohms. Was wondering if I should go with a 2ch amp rated at 500wx1 Bridged @4ohms. Would it make that much of a differance?
Well, since the amp is bridged at 500, and you said that your subs are only hitting with 300 Watts at 4 ohms now, its only natural that yes, they'll be louder. But first make sure that each of your subs are rated to handle 250 Watts each BEFORE hooking up the bigger amp. If you only want to get 500 watts look for something you can get thats stable down to One ohm at 500 watts, might save you some money over getting a 1000 that push them at 4 ohms, since you can wire your subs for either 4 or 1 ohms if you have TWO subs.
