Hifonics Bxi1206d

Overrated, does about 900-1000 watts. Good enough for those subs though, and you won't find a decent amp at that power for less.

how about the Boss GT-2500D? it claims 1500 watts RMS into 2 ohms. i figure for around $140 its a pretty good deal if it does close to what it says

I'd sell those subs and start over. You should try something cheap and awesome like RD audio lower models or DD and you'll be more than pleased

I agree with chris, 2 cvr's on a hifonics BXi1206 would be a huge upgrade from those pyramids (and a descent overall system imo).

Go with a Kicker ZX-750.1 Off Ebay , there not that expensive around 175 off ebay Refurbished may be a little less . There also underrated so it will probably be pushing around 1000 .

Yeah and the hifoncs will only do 900-1000. You will not notice a bifference between those, and the Kicker is 1000x better quality.

Definetly the Kicker if you can get it cheaper.

Both of those amps are likely to be overrated. But the Cadence is without a doubt the better of the two.

What are your subs voice coil configuration? I'm guessing either dual 2 or single 4 ohm judging by your 2nd post.

Bro get rid of those subs to some one around the way that doesn't know anything about Car audio , go to one of your local Pawn shops and buy some decent used subs (Kicker CVR, CVX, Good But Cheap) and i guarantee they will tops the those two pyramids in every way possible.

Scott - glad to see you sticking with your budget subs. ALMOST any sub can perform well given the right power and more importantly a good enclosure. Which model pyramids do you have?

That kicker 750.1 would be an excellent amp if you can fit it in your budget.
If not, here's a good quality refurbished lanzar optidrive that will give you 700w at 2 ohms, and 1000w at 1 ohm if you ever change subs.

i have a pair of PWRD12s
any chance i could get a little more power for the money than the kicker? i was sort of looking at the Lanzar HTG264. ive heard mixed reviews about Lanzar. i was thinking the vibe 286 until i read the manual. on Lanzar's website they say it does 2 x 1000 watts rms at 4 ohms but the manual says 2 x 300 watts rms at 4 ohms. i then checked the manual for the Heritage line and the HTG264 matches what they said on the website: 2 x 600 watts rms at 4 ohms

thoughts?

i read the good bad and ugly list [linked above] and in the amp section MA Audio is under the 'good' list with Alpine and Kicker and Rockford. i know this doesnt necessarily mean much but i found a MA Audio HK1398 for $180 [plus $30 shipping]

I ESTIMATE about 800 watts... not much more, my friend (if that)

By the way, Hifonics has a pretty high THD level (in comparison to other class D amplifiers)... any suggestions for the poor guy that WON'T lead to the distruction of his subs?? He's got Pyramids, you guys... the LAST thing he needs is to give them unneccessary heat. Come on now... will the pro's please step forward?

I haven't read up on my s,h,i,t for a looooong time - but I do know you can get better than Hifonics. You need durability and efficiency in an amp. TELL ME I'M WRONG. Problem is... I couldn't tell you where to turn, because... well... I'll be the first to admit: I'm behind in the times.

As a matter of fact, check out my thread titled "replacing stolen amps" - I need an update on the best bang for my buck. I'm looking for a mono block that's 1 ohm stable (or better).

Don't worry, buddy, I'm not jacking your thread - I'll pass on any info I obtain. I promise.

Good luck by the way.

I've always heard that indoaudio has a delivery time problem... I think people's package doesn't arrive on time, and they think they got jacked... and MAYBE they did... the point is: indo audio has always had a reputation for not delivering ontime or at all. (my eyes have read many complaints... never dealt with them myself)

hope that helps

Cblaze, you are probably right, it is stil a very good low-budget amp. It has nice SQ, and much force, and no problem driving the Pyramid subs Scott have.
In Norway it cost 1000,- norwegian kroner.
one dollar=6 Nkroner so it wil fit in his 180Dollar budget, since it wil be cheeper in the US. Norway is a high kost land.

After reading this thread this was by far the best thing in it. That made me laugh :-) Are you willing to buy a used amp? If so you can get something pretty good for $180 just take a look on caraudio.com and you should be able to find something that fits your budget and is of good quality.
