I need someone with a bit of audio system savvy and a lot of patience. I'm so tired of trying to build me up a nice system and it comes out just not how I expected. Please someone help me before I start crying =[

I need any advise I can get. I'm basically trying to get a really hard hitting bass with clear crisp vocals over the bass. I want to get a really nice head unit as well with DVD and CD capability. I dont know which one to get! I've been researching for daaaays and I cant come up with the best one. Right now, I have a Kenwood KVT-619DVD head unit and I just got it 2 days ago. I already HATE it. Im taking it back tomorrow morning and I really need to know a couple things.

-what is a good head unit to get?
-what speakers do I need and which will sound the best for the highs?
-what kind of amp do I need to get the most out of the new speakers?
-any other information that would help

I really need help gathering a list of exactly what I need so any help will GREATLY be appreciated!

Its gonna be a process so at this point, money isn't an issue.

After more researching, I really like the Pioneer in-dash that they have the AVIC-D3 along with the CD-I200 ipod connection. Seems like everyone loves it. I don't want a navigation unit and I think it comes separate with the unit right? If so, this one looks like a winner.

Now I got to find the right speakers to put in...

Pioneer AVIC-Z2... that one looks nice as well except I think it's too much. I dont need a nav unit and it has 30 gigs of space to hold songs which is nice. Still trying to decide...

what you should do is first get a nice set of component speakers and a nice amp for those speakers.

around how much you planning on spending for the speakers?

memphis, mmats, jl audio, infinity, cdt, and focal makes some nice component speakers. i am sure i missed a few names but can't think right now.

why don't you do this. post a budget you want to spend on the whole thing and let me see if i can come up with a good setup for you. if not me, someone will on this forum. :-)

Don't get the Avic D3

Get an Eclipse AVN 5510 or 6610

----------------------------------

Get a decent set of speakers

INVEST in sound deadening and seal up your doors, I did mine today. My temporary $50 coaxial speakers sound like a $400+ set.

Also seal up the trunk and any holes that are on the inside of the trunk lid.

Buy a roll of Raamat BXT, Ensolite, and spray adhesive.

"lol if u have no budget jl,may be overpriced but is hard to beat"

for speakers, there's plenty others that are better than jl imo. but also more expensive. with no limit since you're rich, personally i'd look into dynaudio or hertz. just remember to not go cheap on the amp for them like many others do. don't go buy a nice comp. set and then a hifonics amp or anything.

1 or 2 Rolls > RAAMmat BXT
3 yards > Ensolite MLC
1 can > V&S Spray Adhesive

Not sure how to install all this and I dont want to screw anything up. I don't want to have to pop off door panels and jack things up. If I can get it dynamatted professionally for about 200, do you think I should do that instead?

Head-Unit- Eclipse AVN 5510 or 6610
Its a nice unit but I think I'd rather have a flip out but its not a necessity. I also do not need a Nav unit but i know the Nav units are nicer.

Speakers- Pioneer Premier 720PRS
Sounds good. Where do I buy them and what sizes do I need?

Speakers Amp- Audison SRX 2S

To install the sound deadener, find a forum that is specifically for your car. They should have a DIY how to remove the door panel.

If worst comes to worst have the shop remove the panels, then start your work from there. Sound deadening is not hard, its peeling and applying, an 8 yr old could do it. Just takes ALOT of time.

Theres no way they would seal do that job for 200.

The links on Best Buy don't work. Type R's don't really sound good, I have one myself.

If you want what your trying to achieve get the system I suggested. Don't work your way around it.

Not horrible suggestions mike, but there are better for what he wants. If you want "really hard hitting bass with clear crisp vocals over the bass" then get a 12" Fi Q. It gets REALLY low and you'll be hard pressed to find a sub with better SQ.
https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=15476ec822e2ff7/shopdata/0020_Q/product_overview.shopscript
I'm sure those speakers are OK, but there's better for the price.

All good...

^All are expensive also, but their lower models are worth the price.

Mike why would you suggest an amp that puts out 180rms for 50rms speakers?
Whatever speakers you get I'd go with the companies amp if they make one or a Kicker, for the price their quality is very hard to beat.

maybe you need to learn a little more and again do your research

FYI I owned a Fi Q, and I've heard the Kappa's. Fi Q isn't that great for all those out there, get off their nuts already.

Kappa's IMO would be great for his system. They have awesome SQ and get pretty loud.

for subs, I would get two fully loaded BTL's from FI car audio. then you need the 8000 watts to power them, and probably a very ho alternator or dual alternators with 4 battery's in the trunk. good luck!!!

So 180w rms wouldn't be overpowering those Pioneers? Not a waste of money or anything getting an amp with 260w rms that you'll never use.
And all those speakers I suggested are better than those Pioneers, no point in trying to argue that one.

Oh really? Your WRONG

Those pioneers are some of the best for the money, they are highly regarded on DIY mobile maybe you should sign up and learn a bit before you go ahead making uneducated guesses and claiming your right.

50 watts "MINIMAL" will barely get those things moving come on now, they'll shine on 180 watts

I haven't hear that particular JBL, but from hearing my friends JBL's I doubt it. In my experience JBL has been a very subpar brand.
My friend has 2 10" Kappas and he's jeolous of my 1 12" Q. I asked him why he didn't get a Q then, heard it before he got his system, and he said because he didn't have the money. Therefore Infinity is budget IMO.
All those speakers I suggested are just as good and most likely better than the Pioneers. You haven't really done a good job backing them up besides saying they're the best I'm right your wrong, go suck a d!ck. Anyone heard them and can compare?
And mike if you think Pioneer is better than CDT, Focal, Morel, Seas, etc. then no offensive, but you shouldn't be posting about speakers.

Yes the pioneer's are better then polk, cdt, and focal at that price. I HIGHLY doubt hes going to go active to run the other high quality brands.

"but from hearing my friends JBL's I doubt it"

So based on a lower line of JBL you judge one of the best SQ subs in the market? Who wins SQ competitions all the time?????

JBL you f-cking dumbass

"My friend has 2 10" Kappas and he's jeolous of my 1 12" Q. I asked him why he didn't get a Q then, heard it before he got his system, and he said because he didn't have the money. Therefore Infinity is budget IMO."

So stupid, I wonder what POS pre-fab box it was in?

I guess we could go at it all day about what beats what but I'm trying to pick out what I should keep and what I should upgrade.

Listening to my system, the bass sounds alright when its at like -10 and the volume cranked up. If I push the subs, they get all distorted and fucked up. Idk if its the box I have them in or the amp doesnt push out enough power? It sounds like its trying to hit too hard... Idk its weird. I got them set up with thick guage wire like 4 i think and it was professionally installed so I doubt install is the problem...

Speakers are definitely lacking in highs and I need to upgrade those. I need some decent speakers, not BEST. I'm not going into competitions or anything I just wanna have decent stuff 2 bump. I always listen 2 rap and the beats need to thump.

My trunk rattles a little when the bass is turned down with the treble up way high. If i turn up the bass a little, my trunk might pop open.

For speakers, what size do I need for the front and back? Anyone know?

1) Dwight IDK what model my friend's JBL's were, but yes they were a lower line, not the worst, but lower. My other friend has Kappa's and both boxes, the Q and Kappa's, were made by me and another friend, not the friend who has the Kappa's, to the subs specs.
2) While all my opinion's stand, in my mind I owe you an apology mike for coming off as an azz. While I don't agree with some of what your saying I shouldn't have attacked you as I kind of did and I'm sorry. Been in a bad mood the last few days, I'm sure anyone can relate to coming off as an azz to someone when they're pissed off about something else... Not because of the Holidays if that's what you were wondering lol
3) When I gave those brands and said "All good" I meant whatever you choose you'll like because most likely he won't choose the lowest brand for not having a price range and I didn't feel like pointing out specific models when I know he can do that himself if by nothing more than based on price.

Grandhustle I'd say your amp is clipping. You need to simply turn the gain on your amp down or set your gain with a DMM. Here's how:

I think your right. I have it turned all the way up. I was thinking about turning it down to 0 and messing around with the head unit for bass. its F'd up cuz the head unit bass level is at -10 and the amp is pushin out the most gain and bass boost possible. STUPID OF ME I KNOW! lol
