Aight,

First off I got a Ford Taurus.

I'm looking to get some decent quality/priced subs, preferably 2x12". Im also gonna need an Amp and all the necessary stuff. My buddy can install it, I just dont know what to get?

I been looking at some JL, MTX and Kicker Subs, Im just curious as what would be good for my car.

I know this should go in speakers section, but Im also looking to replace the 4 door speakers aswell, any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

How much money are you planning on spending for an amp, box, wires, and subs? Also, do you want loud, loud and good sounding, or just very clean sounding?

How much money, I honestly dont know, under a grand for sure tho.

As far as loud or good? Is both possible? If not then clean would be my choice.

Yeah it's definitely possible. It would really help if you decided on a general budget anyway. It's hard to come up with something without that.

OK sounds good. Last questions...can you build a box, or will you need someone to make one for you? Also, for that amount of money I assume you don't want to have to upgrade your electrical system correct? (In other words stay under 1500 watts or so?)

I'd say stay under 1000 watts if you don't want any electrical problems. Before I got an alt, big 3 and additional battery my lights were dimming so much they'd go off for a sec when my bass hit lol. Ford Escape on 1500 watts w/ no electrical upgrades = not good, for me anyways lol

I'm pretty good with carpentry but I never made a box before. I have a few buddies that can make one, or I can buy one if you have a suggestion.

Do I need to upgrade my electrical? I mean 1500W is pretty good right?

Yeah that should be more than enough for you. I'm gathering some info right now. Give me 5 minutes and I should have a pretty good recommendation for you.

Here is what I would suggest. I would purchase Cal Payne's two 12" Stereo Integrity BM. They sound very good and hit hard. He's a great guy and has a pretty good price on them. He's asking $300 shipped to your door. Then I would pick up an amp that does 1000-1200RMS. I currently have one I am trying to sell, but there are many you could choose from. I have a Rockford Fosgate 1000-1bd BNIB that I don't need. If you're interested we could work out a good price. If not, there is always eD nine.1, Sundown 1000d, and many others. As for the dimming, you should be alright with this amount of power.

Here's a link to the SI if you wanna take a look.

I am not a good one to ask about the door speakers. Someone will come along and give you a good answer for that. If you're doing $800 for all of it, this may put you over budget. I would consider spending the $800 on the subs and maybe save up for speakers at a later date?

Talk to Kevin at Low-Hz.com. 2 12" RD Classics and a RD1000.1 for under 600 shipped. Gonna be hard to beat for that price, but from what I've heard the SI BM's are good too.

Kicker = bad sound quality.
JL = good, but expensive.

no offense mark, but the kicker pkd1 is an all around better kit, it has hyperflex 1/0, pre-crimped 1/0, awesome distrobution blocks, and a really nice ANL...

IMO

Yea I'd go with them any day just because I don't like mainstream stuff lol
I'm sure it's really good wire I just like when my friends have no idea who the company is ie Sundown, Fi, Diamond Audio, etc.. lol
Know what I mean... or am I just an azz for liking to feel smarter than my friends?
