is mounting your amp on the back of the box bad for the amp because of vibrations?

Yes. You can try to reduce it but it's still a risk.

Big debate on this. Most say no. some say ok.

Thats is the absolute worst place to mount an amp.

no i was just wondering because i think i want mount it vertically like to one side of my trunk but i would have to make a bracket for it. i didnt know if it was really that bad for the amp.

anyone have any idea on how much a bracket for that would cost? cheap i would think.

You make anything you want out of cheap MDF


But can't you mount it on the back seat? That is usually easiest.

no i mean like mount it to one of the sides in a mid-sized car trunk. my seat doesnt fold down. hate thatt.

Back in the day(years ago) I ran two 12" subs in my box off a 300w "drive series" amp mounted on the back of my box. It looked cool. The backlit meters fluttering with the beat and all. Awesome in it's time. Did no damage to the amp.

But that was with only 300w.


Today's amps/subs........well........

you could just drill into the body of the car, through the carpet, or mount a piece of wood behind the carpet, and mount the amp to that piece.
