i received an e-mail on CL today saying this;

"Hello seller,
How are you doing? Am Taiwo solaja from Brooksville FL ,i saw your advert am really interested in buying the item,kindly let me know if the item is available and condition,i will be willing to buy it and pay you with Money Order or cashier check and once you have this payment and clears in your bank..i will have my shipper come and have it pickup from you.if you are ok with this provide the details for payment so that you can have it asap

Check that MO real close to make sure its not fake, then wait for it to clear the bank before you ship

The question is, what are you selling? It does sound kind of odd.
Maybe you should have the guy pickup the item at a neutral place.

yes. its a scam. I get those once a month. Do not reply, or they will get your E-mail and send you more..

Even if the MO clears the bank will still hold you responsible for the fraud if it gets caught late.

oh well paul just proved a good point...i wouldnt accept it then....i thought if it cleared it was good to go..but i must have been wrong

correct. This is how it works. I make up a fake MO on my pc. The MO is from "Bank Of Amarcica". I send it to you, you send my the items. You take the MO to your bank, who gives you the cash. Your bank then sends the MO to the MO bank, In this case, The bank of Amarcica, After 3 attemps to contact the bank of Amarcica, (Which will never happen, as I made the MO with a fake bank address.) They will contact you and want thier money back. This whole ordeal takes up to 90 days to happen. So 3 months later, you wonder why your account is light, while some Nigerian scammers are riding around in a stolen car banging and clipping your subs to death.
