i just bought a new amp and its rater for either 2 or 4 ohm what would happen if i hook up my home speakers that are 8 ohms.i know the 8 ohms would draw alot more watts but would it mess anything up.

One thing you could do to make this experiment safe is to wire two Speaker in parallel to knock the Ohms down to 4 per 2 speakers.
