Well..the sound room at the shop is really coming together now. We are supposed to be ordering our switching system this week.

What will prolly be in the room:
7-9 HU's
10-12 Amps
9-10 Sets of coax/components
No telling how many sub boxes
Power supply, 2 batts
SH17load of wiring
Acoustic Carpet to cut down on the "bathroom" effect

(Yea...and guess who has to wire all that up)

The room is just empty right now...no display.
We have to door in, but now windows.

But we wanted to here alil bass in there :-) So, we stuck a pair of DD 1500's in the room and ran a long wire to em.

Results:

139.5dB in the corner
133.0dB at the door ('legal' position...4"up, 12"over on door:-))

135.0dB at the ear (roughly where people will stand in the room.

We will be testing the same box from the sound room in my bosses suburban Thursday.
I will post results and comparison then.

"10-12 Amps

lol, Sounds like my van.

What amperage are the power supplies?
Talked to guy at BB, and he said they run thiers at 16-17 volts to make the amps, speakers sound louder for sales reasons. Not sure how true that was.

And thats funny. "133.0dB at the door ('legal' position...4"up, 12"over on door)"

Whats the stores Res. Freq? lol

Not 100% sure what size power supply we are getting yet...we have been surviving on an optima d34 and a Pyle ~55A power supply for awhile.

We are thinking about a Kinetik power supply w/ an HC2400.

As for running at 16-17v...power supplies load pretty quick and drop to batt float voltage.

but that was for 25 hus, 15 amps, tons of speaks, subs .. .ridiculous

it was a wiring nightmare tho ... took about 2 weeks of 8 hour days to finish it ...

Mike,

That must have been a MONSTER of a sound room.
Did you leave EVERYTHING on all the time?

The most power we will be demoing at a time will be ~2000wrms. Its a small sound room, but we are packing alot in there.

We are going w/ either an MTI Matrix or Intuition switching system. I really hope the bossman opts for the Intuition system, a touch screen setup would be amazing.

Pit Bull,

I'm ranked up there w/ Ash???
Wow...:-)

cough---this is my boom stick---cough

The shop is just a hole in the wall kinda place. We try to help the customers that have been brainwashed into thinking there is no other audio company other than Kicker, JL, and RF.

I'm just a broke college student showing a few people that the "audio professionals" in town are hacks.

I should really post some of my recent pics from installs i have had to fix. Its horrible man. spliced RCA's, flipdowns w/ noise filters cut, "bridged" amps, 10ga power wire on earthquake 2000w amps, cut harnesses, "ported" boxes...the list goes on.

As a mater of fact...I'll get some off my phone and post em in a min.

I might have to re-think that Canaan, i mean lets be realistic, Ash is absurdly badazz. My favorite scene...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NAetQJUE80

Ash: "Lady I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave the store."

Demon: "Who the hell are you!?"

Ash: "Name's Ash." (C0cks his shotgun) "Housewares."

The fight ensues...

Demon: "I'll swallow your soul!"

Ash: "Come git some."

After killing the demon b!tch...

Ash thinking: Sure I coulda stayed in the past, coulda even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Ash leans back the random beautiful woman...

Ash: "Hail to the king baby."

Ash kisses random beautiful woman.

Well, did alil more playing w/ the DD1515's today.

First we just hooked the DD1515's up to the Autotek 8000.5's sub channel (300w @2ohm) in the Yukon.

137.6dB @ 40hz LEGAL
139.5dB @ 41hz in the kick

Not bad for 300w :-)

Then we ran speaker wire from the sound wall to the Yukon and did:

140.3 @41hz LEGAL
142.8 @44hz in the kick

"lmao at people who don't know how to hook up a system.. or let a friend who "knows" how to"

i installed a amp for a friend of mine and he didnt like it and it was old and didnt work right so he jsut bought a brand new amp. i told him i would hook it up for him and he said ok. so today his amp came in and hes other friends are like cmon we dont need to wiat for carl (thats me) we can instal it. so anyway i get a call tongith and they guys like hey can you help me with my amp it wont turn on. i say ok and go to his house.

i get there and the fist thing i notice is the remote turn on lead was in the - spot for the speaker. i like wow. theres one problem. Next on the amp for RCA's it is clearly marked input and output. the right side was in the input and left side was in the output. again im like wow. then i went under the hood and the fuse wasnt in so the amp wasnt getting power....not to mention none of the settings on the amp were right. im like next time give me a call ill do it right the first time.lol
