New member Username: DdlewisvaPost Number: 1 Registered: Jul-07 | Please help. I need a audio code for my used 2003 Honda CRV. I don't have the code card and the sticker inside my glove box is gone. I have looked in both fuse boxes for radio serial numbers and possible codes. No luck. The dealers in my area want at least $90 to pull the radio and "get the code." I'm a single mom and $90 in my house buys groceries and diapers. I was told that a vin number can be used to retrieve the code. I can't even get the radio to make any "noise" -won't come on. I cannot set the clock either. If I try to do anything - I get an ERR1 message. What can be done to get the code. We are visiting relatives soon and I really need the cd player so my kid can sing along with his favorite Disney CD. Can anyone help?????????????? Thanks ddlewisva@yahoo.com |

New member Username: DdlewisvaPost Number: 2 Registered: Jul-07 | I posted a request for help finding an audio code for a 2003 Honda CRV. Upon reading other entries and doing a little more internet research.......I found that in newer Honda's the radio's serial number can be retrieved by holding the preset buttons 1 and 6 down at the same time and then turning on the radio. Two sets of numbers should display (a letter like U or L may also be infront of the numbers.) What ever you see - WRITE it down. Call your local dealer and give these numbers to them. They have a computer system that can find your radio code with this serial number. NOTHING ELSE was needed for me. (You may need to disconnect the negative battery wire for a minute or so to "reset" the error that my appear on your radio display.) If you have a newer Honda - try this method. Don't let the dealers tell you they need to "pull out the radio" to get the number. This is most likely a way for them to get $$$ from you. When I told them how I got my serial number - they seemed "pissed" because I wan't coming in for them to pull the radio and get $90 from me. Anyway - you can get the same information from the American Honda Co. by calling their 1-800 number- internet research - they also have a frequent questions screen that has info on how to get the radio code - so dealers - in my opinion- should be reported for charging to pull the radio (labor cost) when it can be found quickly by anyone - on matter how "skilled" you are in car mechanics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. - to get the code the letters that appeared with the serial number for my radio was not needed for the code info. The guy on the phone tried with the letters and without - the without method worked. Sorry this entry is long - but I think the info is worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
