My question was because I was wondering why you were bumping this thread. Are you bumping it because you're excited about your amps and want the world to see them?

the M1 is under-rated.. the M1a is but not by much..

DD specs say the M1 does 1700rms @ 1 ohm

there power series are real nice, the 500 watts one i got does 969 rms watts.im just prolly gonna upgrade to the bigger one,and read up bud that 1700 is not rms, they just wanna show off to the noobys how they keep the thd low at full power, look how the 2 rms ratings are at the same volts and same load.cuz the 1200 is rms and 1700 is max

straight from DD Tech

We rated that amp with a non-CEA standard thd+n ratio of 0.5% @ 13.8V and another at 12.5V. The revised CEA 2006 standard is 14.4V @ 1% thd+n because there were so many amplifiers flooding the market that did not make near their "rated" or "listed" power. There is a standard, but there is not a mandate to use the standard. We opted to use our own at that time which was a far more strict standard than the current one. The problem is that the competition organizations now use the CEA 2006 version because of the complaining companies who's amplifiers did not make much power at all until you got them to 14.4V and with a higher distortion ratio of 1%. We never tested that amplifier specifically at 14.4V @ 1% thd+n. We did a 13.8V test at the same 0.5% thd+n and that is the rated "dynamic power" of 1500w. You could expect that power easily at 14.4V and 1% thd+n. 1700w is a number that we've never seen or tested ourselves. We have seen a 1900w

+ number on the www.soundpressure.com forum. That was not using our test bench and we do not have anything to do with their measurement system. We rated the amplifier at 600wrms @ 1ohm @ 12.5V @ 0.5% thd+n. None of those amplifiers measured quite that low of an output, so we rounded the number to the next lowest 100 watts. This was done because the amplifier was meant to be a rock solid 600w at a low voltage and low distortion ratio for the daily driver. If you jumped the distortion to double our rating @ 1% thd+n, you get a much higher power output. If you jumped the voltage to 14.4V, you got a big jump again. The point to the whole thing is that most folks that buy a 1000w amplifier keep stock charging systems and the manufacturer is lucky if they even put an upgraded battery, much less a second battery into the system. That meant that most folks would never possibly keep the battery voltage above 13.8V if lightning struck the vehicle. Most would hover in the mid 12V region.............hence why we rated the amp at a clean output distortion and at the 12.5V. There are folks that I'm sure have measured 1700w @ over 10% distortion and 16V worth of battery voltage in SPL applications. Our amplifiers do not have a warranty when put into SPL applications, so it makes very little sense for us to test their "just before blow-up" power output at high battery voltages and high distortion percentages.

for daily driving.. my single Sx 15" on 1500rms was loud enough to hurt your ears.. literally

when you have a system and can't turn it up much due to it just simply being too loud.. youll want the lower power with low distortion for a nice listening level.. of course everyone goes through their stages

well jack 10% thd would prolly blow the subs for daily, and most companies stop when they reach 1 % thd,not 10 %
