i also am wanting to go with a 18 fi.. i was loookin at gettin a BTL so i can upgrade latr tho. any probs with tinsel slap with any of them?

I have an 18" Q however my use doesn't involve tinsel slap. I've pushed it but not to the extreme most here look to do. I don't know for sure if Scott has addressed this issue with current models but I believe he hasn't. I think you'll have to just roll with it for now until the next line comes out.



I might have missed something on this so don't hold me to it.

upgrade my whole system, amp, alt. i am gettin an 18 btl powered with 1500wrms untill i get a new alt. then get a new amp to go 2000+. does anybody know if theres a way to fix the tinsel slap??

the tinsel leads are huge one the btls and i dont doubt that it will have some issues. but this is my opinion

I wouldn't worry about it. I've never had a problem with my btls, or my bros BLs pushed to 2x the rms. The main reason for problems is not knowing how to set your filters. I'd go with it. The Qs sound great.

ok thanks man! i don't really kno how to set the ssf?? how do i kno how to set it my box is 32Hz

Basically you should set it at or around the tuning of the box to prevent the sub from over-excursion when playing notes below the tuning freq. what amp are you putting on the q?
