I am debating between which system will have the best sq and high spl for my 1998 Ford Explorer. I am thinking about 2 JL Audio 18"w3 subwoofers with 2 JL 500/1 amps. Or 1 Kicker 18" SoloX with 1 ZX2500.1 amp. I plan on putting either system in a ported box.

lol
sq = w3's (probably wont require new alt/batt but big 3 will help)
spl = solo x (running 2500rms will require a new alt, bigger batt probably, big 3....so another $1k we'll call it)

theres a guy local that competes with 4 18w3's he has 4 1500wrms amps for comps and 2 for daily, last i knew his highest spl was like a 154 or something close, in a van with no wall so w3's can get loud.

I can give you a great deal on a RD Audio Alpha 18 and a RD 1750.1. Gets loud, sounds great.

Thanks Yanks Fan for the Big 3 info. The rms for the 18w3 and 18w6 is the same (500), I am wondering what the difference would between them? The JL dealers here can only get me the 18w3 and not the 18w6. There are some 18w6's on ebay but are used. (I would like to have new subs). I really have never heard or seen the DD 9115/DD 9918 subs and RD Audio Alpha 18 subs. Are these good quality subwoofers that would last awhile?

The w6 subs are well worth the step up from the w3 since I listened to the 12w3 and 12w6 in car

But paying in store prices id tell you to look at other brands for that kind of money

The difference is;

the 18w3 is available in 2ohm dvc and 4ohm dvc

the 18w6 is only available in 6ohm..

What online store would be good to buy the DD 9115 or the DD9918 subs from? Here is where the JL Audio 18w6's are.
http://cgi.ebay.com/18-JL-Audio-subwoofer_W0QQitemZ170159702282QQihZ007QQcategor yZ18805QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. They are only $250 each and the person claims to have hit 149 db with them. How much are the DD seriers subs? I think that I would like to have the DD9918 18's depending on the price difference.

i dont believe you can buy DD subs online....only used off forums and buying from a DD dealer in your area....go on ddaudio.com and check around for a list of dealers in your area....
