New member Username: Explorer_18Hayden, Idaho U.S. Post Number: 1 Registered: Oct-07 | I am debating between which system will have the best sq and high spl for my 1998 Ford Explorer. I am thinking about 2 JL Audio 18"w3 subwoofers with 2 JL 500/1 amps. Or 1 Kicker 18" SoloX with 1 ZX2500.1 amp. I plan on putting either system in a ported box. |

Gold Member Username: Nyyfan13Fi SSD USA Post Number: 6511 Registered: Jul-06 | lol sq = w3's (probably wont require new alt/batt but big 3 will help) spl = solo x (running 2500rms will require a new alt, bigger batt probably, big 3....so another $1k we'll call it) |

Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 6753 Registered: Jun-04 | pretty sure my buddy owned two w3 18's but I had the 12 w3 and was impressed with the sq so yeah the 18's should be fine sq wise |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 6754 Registered: Jun-04 | jl w6's would be better sq and spl wise but I dont no if they make an 18 in the w6 as well .. (I love the 12 w6). |
Gold Member Username: CenusOhio Post Number: 3669 Registered: Jan-05 | theres a guy local that competes with 4 18w3's he has 4 1500wrms amps for comps and 2 for daily, last i knew his highest spl was like a 154 or something close, in a van with no wall so w3's can get loud. |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 6756 Registered: Jun-04 | jl 12w0's can too there's a guy around here that has like eight 12w0's on like 1500 rms and hits like 148 to 149 db in a similar vehicle...daily setup |

Bronze Member Username: TreezPost Number: 78 Registered: Aug-06 | jl did make a 18w6... The only 18 inch subs they made were in the w3 and w6 series.. |
New member Username: Explorer_18Hayden, Idaho U.S. Post Number: 3 Registered: Oct-07 | Thanks Yanks Fan for the Big 3 info. The rms for the 18w3 and 18w6 is the same (500), I am wondering what the difference would between them? The JL dealers here can only get me the 18w3 and not the 18w6. There are some 18w6's on ebay but are used. (I would like to have new subs). I really have never heard or seen the DD 9115/DD 9918 subs and RD Audio Alpha 18 subs. Are these good quality subwoofers that would last awhile? |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 6761 Registered: Jun-04 | The w6 subs are well worth the step up from the w3 since I listened to the 12w3 and 12w6 in car But paying in store prices id tell you to look at other brands for that kind of money |
Bronze Member Username: TreezPost Number: 79 Registered: Aug-06 | The difference is; the 18w3 is available in 2ohm dvc and 4ohm dvc the 18w6 is only available in 6ohm.. |
Gold Member Username: Denali_on_22sMoney man, blowin Post Number: 2966 Registered: Feb-06 | w6 is the old discontinued model... wasnt all that great from what i heard... go with 9115 sq is uncomparable... that or a soundsplinter rl-s |
New member Username: Explorer_18Hayden, Idaho U.S. Post Number: 4 Registered: Oct-07 | What online store would be good to buy the DD 9115 or the DD9918 subs from? Here is where the JL Audio 18w6's are. http://cgi.ebay.com/18-JL-Audio-subwoofer_W0QQitemZ170159702282QQihZ007QQcategor yZ18805QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. They are only $250 each and the person claims to have hit 149 db with them. How much are the DD seriers subs? I think that I would like to have the DD9918 18's depending on the price difference. |
Gold Member Username: Nyyfan13Fi SSD USA Post Number: 6533 Registered: Jul-06 | i dont believe you can buy DD subs online....only used off forums and buying from a DD dealer in your area....go on ddaudio.com and check around for a list of dealers in your area.... |
Gold Member Username: CenusOhio Post Number: 3688 Registered: Jan-05 | just fyi DD9100's are very exspensive. those w6's don't have to bad of price. |
