i sold my L7s and everything else i had so i'm gonna have a budget of around 600 dollars but i found these 18" subs that looked decent the rms is really low for 18"s but what do you guys think about them? MA Audio MA180XE i would be giving them 1500 watts rms from a db drive amp

If you want low RMS 18s, look into the Mach 5s.

Higher sensitivity. Much cheaper. About the same power rating. They look way better too, IMO.

Either way, you'll need that amp to do the power at 2 ohms, although if it'll do it at 4 ohms, the MJ 18s can be had with an 8 ohm VC.

MA audio subs suck. They might sound better than L7s though, but that ain't sayin much.

Well theoretically, the Mach 5's will get louder, just like taking the MAs and adding 2/3 of your original power.

He wants low RMS. Although, the SSD would probably work. I think they come in 18s... Yup. So the SSD would probably be louder, but it's more than twice the price.

i told him it will be hard to get louder with a single sub on that power ... if you increased you power you'd for sure be louder with even a single better sub..

i still a single HD3, SX, BL, or similar on that power would be comparable to two 12" L7s ..

btw.. are you thinking about space? most likely you'd end up running the 18"s sealed.. i'd go with a single 15" ported.. or an 18" ported if itll fit..

you could always do two 12"s again.. but again your going to have problems getting louder on the same power

My bro did a direct swap replacing his 12L7 for a 12 BL and gained a lot. I'd go with an 18 (or 15 if it's all that will fit) BL with 1500, and if its not enough add a 2nd. I'd put a lot of effort into a good ported enclosure as well.
