Silver Member Username: Santa_fePost Number: 232 Registered: Jul-07 | na i want to run the subs at a four ohm load |
Gold Member Username: Nyyfan13Fi SSD USA Post Number: 6389 Registered: Jul-06 | you cant wire 2 single 4 ohm subs to 4 ohms....only 2 ohms or 8 ohms |
Silver Member Username: Santa_fePost Number: 233 Registered: Jul-07 | so will pushing 4 ohms subs at 2 ohms hurt them???? and i hear i have to set the gain to a certain voltage??? |
Silver Member Username: Santa_fePost Number: 235 Registered: Jul-07 | how do i know what to set my gain at and can this hurt my subs at all.....Ps me and my brother are arguing i say sealed is louder and he says bandpass is louder plzz tell me i am right here? Sealed meaning each sub in its own box |
Gold Member Username: Nyyfan13Fi SSD USA Post Number: 6393 Registered: Jul-06 | the subs are single voice coil right? what subs/amp? use this link to help you bud http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=&I= |
Gold Member Username: Nyyfan13Fi SSD USA Post Number: 6394 Registered: Jul-06 | bandpass shuold be louder than sealed, assuming you didnt f-ck it up....with that said, bandpass boxes are a lot more difficult to build than a sealed box |
Silver Member Username: Santa_fePost Number: 236 Registered: Jul-07 | ic ty sososo much...........well the box would be prebuilt bandpass....and custom sealed....its a directed 1100d amp, and two q power 12's....i know some people dont like em but they have aweosme SQ and thats what im all about |
Silver Member Username: Santa_fePost Number: 237 Registered: Jul-07 | and how do i set the gains for this to run wihtout hurting my subs??? For bandpass would you reccomend the subs facing the glass or subs facing the back where the ports are....hear dthta makes a big difference |
Gold Member Username: Nyyfan13Fi SSD USA Post Number: 6397 Registered: Jul-06 | dont put them in a pre-fab bandpass box.....much rather do sealed box than prefab bandpass....jmo tho |
Silver Member Username: Santa_fePost Number: 238 Registered: Jul-07 | yeah the sealsed ones are nice so do you know how to set the gains? |

Gold Member Username: FrkkevinResonant Engineering..., Fort Worth... Email Post Number: 3688 Registered: Nov-05 | just set as close as you can to what the preout are on your h/u.. lets say your preouts are 4volt.. turn the gain to what you would think is 4volt.. in the book it should show where the gain starts and end votlage wise.. some are printed on the amp i'd go through and tell you how to do it the technical way with a DMM.. but i don't think youll get it if you want loud.. go ported.. SQ .. go sealed |
Silver Member Username: Santa_fePost Number: 241 Registered: Jul-07 | ok...i kidan know how to do it useing a DMM already and i have a DMM so a refresher would be nice....I know i need to get the volts at the amp so how do i figure out what volts i need for my subs without hurting them. |
