New member Username: SqtPost Number: 3 Registered: Oct-07 | how should i customize it? I am hoping to use a jl 1000/1 , but i am willing to upgrade. I wanna get noticeably louder than the w7 and retain reasonable sq. |

Silver Member Username: Kingandsons07Lincoln, Nebraska U.S.A Post Number: 233 Registered: Feb-07 | sq=Q... u can put a lil more power on it! with a bp u can put 1500rms on it. |
Silver Member Username: Kingandsons07Lincoln, Nebraska U.S.A Post Number: 234 Registered: Feb-07 | u can only do a bp on a q! what are u wantin daily or spl?? |
New member Username: SqtPost Number: 5 Registered: Oct-07 | basically sql,i'll go with any option that gives more output than a 13w7. |
Silver Member Username: Kingandsons07Lincoln, Nebraska U.S.A Post Number: 236 Registered: Feb-07 | then go with the BL.. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7154 |
New member Username: SqtPost Number: 6 Registered: Oct-07 | Will sq be compromised by going with the bl over the Q due to the difference in fs's. Thanks again |
Silver Member Username: Kingandsons07Lincoln, Nebraska U.S.A Post Number: 241 Registered: Feb-07 | idk i never heared the BL you should be good |
Platinum Member Username: Chaunb3400Huntsville, Alabama U.S. Post Number: 12948 Registered: Jul-05 | i own both subs...the diff sq is not as great as the dif in spl..got a fully loaded BL and call it a day |
Gold Member Username: Skibum12189Cleveland Post Number: 1840 Registered: Mar-06 | itd be dumb to put 1000 watts on a fully loaded BL |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinResonant Engineering..., Fort Worth... Email Post Number: 3680 Registered: Nov-05 | more power ftw |
Gold Member Username: Skibum12189Cleveland Post Number: 1842 Registered: Mar-06 | do you already have a w7.... IMO, the w7 is one of the most efficient subs out there, they do amazingly well on 1000 watts compared to what some subs do on 2000 |
Gold Member Username: Tremor1127Fi Post Number: 2324 Registered: Aug-06 | x2 cal... trevin, you say you want the sub to be "noticably" louder than the 13w7? the 13w7 inst a punk. jl audio is very mainstream but they did a pretty good job with the w7... ive owned an 8w7 and have heard multiple w7 setups. they are good subs. i wouldnt go crazy with the options either, i assume a stock BL will take a 1000/1 very nicely. btw, i own BLs now... |
New member Username: SqtPost Number: 7 Registered: Oct-07 | it doesnt worry me how much watts the sub requires... i just want the single fi 15 sub that will get noticeably louder than the w7 |
New member Username: SqtPost Number: 8 Registered: Oct-07 | Cal, i already own a 13w7. Im currently running it on a slash 1000/1 ... If i need to upgrade amp, no problem...But if the bl or q will be louder than the w7 on 1k then i buy will whichever will get the job done... |
Gold Member Username: Tremor1127Fi Post Number: 2325 Registered: Aug-06 | well if you can upgrade your electrical to push an amp of 2000+ watts i would do THAT and grab a BTL. just to make sure... |
Gold Member Username: Tremor1127Fi Post Number: 2326 Registered: Aug-06 | your electrical system is limiting you from really using any amp larger than the one you already have. if your just looking for a sub to work on 1000ish watts i would do the BL but a BTL would be sweet if you can swing it. you can get away with spending less than 500 to upgrade your electrical system (which includes an alternator) and less than 500 for a 2000+ watt amp. then you can run a BTL... |
New member Username: SqtPost Number: 9 Registered: Oct-07 | Tremor, will be sq be comparable to that of the w7. i know that the btl's are known for spl. I am subject to correction though. |
Gold Member Username: Nyyfan13Fi SSD USA Post Number: 6381 Registered: Jul-06 | chad lee on here owned 2 15" BTLs and said the sq was not bad at all....if i recall correctly |
Gold Member Username: Tremor1127Fi Post Number: 2327 Registered: Aug-06 | i dont think the BTLs will sound much worse than the BLs. from the way i understand it, the BTLs dont sound much worse at all they just have an ability to get ALOT louder... i couldnt say either way though, only Fi subwoofers i have heard were mine. w7s have great sound quality. very in depth and nice control after certain bass notes. w7s are just great all around subs. i just woundnt get my hopes up if your expecting something freakishly better than a w7. out of curiosity, what kinda music do you regularly listen to? |
Gold Member Username: Tremor1127Fi Post Number: 2328 Registered: Aug-06 | chad lee did say that. and from watching his video playing gimme that by paul wall the sq seemed almost identical to my two BLs. of course its all video and whatnot but even though, it seemed VERY similar. even in output... |
Gold Member Username: Th3pwn3rPost Number:... Post Number: 5253 Registered: Jul-06 | Unless you plan on upgrading your charging system and running more amperage in your vehicle stick with the W7 and 1000/1.Do you have it in a high output box? |
Silver Member Username: Steve_collinsPost Number: 347 Registered: Dec-05 | i have a 3512 with the c motor and its loud and sounds really good. 180 shipped just a idea |
Gold Member Username: Skibum12189Cleveland Post Number: 1845 Registered: Mar-06 | rob they don't make the high output for the JL 13.5" subs.....unless you're asking if he has it ported..... |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinResonant Engineering..., Fort Worth... Email Post Number: 3686 Registered: Nov-05 | only advantage you'll have to get louder on that power.. is the cone area honestly i don't see much difference.. the BL will probably get louder at a high note than the W7 but unless you are going to run more power stick with the W7 what are the specs of the box the W7 is in? |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinResonant Engineering..., Fort Worth... Email Post Number: 3687 Registered: Nov-05 | oh, and IMO, the BL is not going to give you anywhere near the SQ your used to, the Q would be closer but the output I doubt would be much more |
New member Username: SqtPost Number: 10 Registered: Oct-07 | I listen mostly to hip hop. my w7 is in a ported box 2.5 cuft ported to 30 hz. to prevent any significant loss in sq, i am tempted to try the Q. If it doesnt suit my taste, then i'll try the bl. |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinResonant Engineering..., Fort Worth... Email Post Number: 3689 Registered: Nov-05 | for the money you'd be spending.. just buy something worthy .. get yourself an Si Mag.. I've seen them on caraudio.com going for $300-$350 shipped and you won't be disappointed |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinResonant Engineering..., Fort Worth... Email Post Number: 3690 Registered: Nov-05 | .... what i mean by you spending money.. i think it is a waste buying something on a whim then not liking it, having to resell it and try something else that in turn you might not like |
Bronze Member Username: SqtPost Number: 11 Registered: Oct-07 | i appreciate your advice but wouldnt i also be buying on a whim if i got the si mag or any other sub that i havent already heard. The purpose of this tread is to get opinions on subs i've never heard or else i would let my ear be my guide. I'll try the Q on 1000rms and see how it goes. |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinResonant Engineering..., Fort Worth... Email Post Number: 3693 Registered: Nov-05 | just saying.. I'm sure most would agree Si Mag over the Q .. more output and a little better sq I've heard one before, loved it but wanted to try the 04/05 XXX .. so thats why i never bought one myself |
Gold Member Username: Skibum12189Cleveland Post Number: 1853 Registered: Mar-06 | the Q won't be as loud as your w7 |
Bronze Member Username: SqtPost Number: 13 Registered: Oct-07 | even if its customized with the bp power option in a 4.3 cuft ported to 33hz on a kicker zx1500.1? |
Gold Member Username: BlainewPost Number: 2687 Registered: Nov-05 | keep the w7 man.. but if not how much do u want for it |

New member Username: H3torPost Number: 2 Registered: Oct-07 | I will take RE xxx 2000 rms better SQ and SPL, the BL is only made for SPL. |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinResonant Engineering..., Fort Worth... Email Post Number: 3698 Registered: Nov-05 | im glad someone agreed with me on the Mag .. i'd put the 04/05 XXX right with the Mag as well |
Silver Member Username: TejcurrentPost Number: 660 Registered: Apr-07 | I've heard the SSD, Q, BL, and own the BTLs. They all sound decent. The SSD and Q both have good sq. The BL and BTL lean more towards SPL than SQ, but they still sound very good in the right enclosure. I love my BTLs, but any sub can sound mediocre with a bad front stage. I would get more power and upgrade your electrical system first, then look for another sub. I've only heard a W7 a few times, and I wasn't impressed with it that much.. |
Silver Member Username: TejcurrentPost Number: 661 Registered: Apr-07 | I'd go with the mag, a q, or a bl 15 over it- especially for the price. |
