So my battery must be dying because it hasn't been charging like it should lately, had to jump it to get started this morning. It's just a regular average battery, I've had the car since February 07' and the manufactured date on the batt is like Jan. 05' so i think it's time for a new one.

I'm gonna be runnin 1300-1400 watts between my two amps so i figured since i need a new batt anyway i might as well get a high performance one so...

1. what kind should i get? optima? rep top? yellow top? I dunno the difference those are just the names i hear dropped a lot in relation to car audio.

2. Is it okay to plug in a nice battery like that without changing the ALT/Big3? I know those are good things i should get around to doing anyway, but will it be okay?

3. Where can i buy a nice battery?

you don't need to do the big 3 if you don't have a ho alt.

you can get kinetiks at pretty good price on ebay.

although the batteries come charged, its a good idea to charge it before you put it in your car. use a nice battery charger and give it a good charge.

sorry for multiple posts. the ideas came to me after i posted.

no they come charged. you can just put that in your car and use it right out of the box. but its still good to give it a good charge. slow charge with low amps.

Chadley how will the new batt effect my electrical system? Is it only meaningful if i'm going to upgrade the alternator eventually?

also what is the average lifespan of a kinetik hc1800? same as most batteries? i know it depends but can you ball park it?

thanks chadley!

get the kinetiks trust me. yellow top is a pos comapred to the kinetik.

also i stand by my statement about the big 3. the stock alt won't produce enough current for you to need thicker cables.

Exactly. The stock wiring is the gauge it is to take the current produced by the STOCK alternator.Nuff said.

ive even heard from a installer at the shop I worked at that upgrading the stock wiring made as much difference as adding a capacitor....my guess is the improvement is from higher current capacity and the stock wiring may be for short term high current draw

If the wiring supports the current/amperage that's being run through it there's no point in upgrading.I think we can all agree on that :-)

My 1800 does nicely. I wouldn't trust an Optima, given the option.
But mine is also a compliment to my HO alt, big 3, and 5f cap...(and these 3000 sub watts are still kicking my truck's butt).

true but if your gonna change the bat. you might as well upgrade the big 3, it can't hurt and what are you gonna spend like $20 for some wire wow.

so what now you are running a powerful system without any problem without a ho since you did the big 3?

how much has it helped? have you put a voltmeter at the amp to see? or do you think that it is helping.
