for me I would go with a sub that went as LOW as possible for HT use.....thats why ill probably use my idq image dynamics 12 for that duty when I build my own HT sub (20 hz baby)
Its an amp that came with my Infinity home subwoofer that i bought like 2 years ago. I blew the infinity sub twice so i changed the sub to an audioque. it works good but deffinitly isnt a HT kinda sub so i was thinking about upgrading. I looking to get a sub used to hopefully low 200's for the Q and TC's site is selling a tc-1000 for 200. Sometime in the future i may upgrade to a dayton 1000rms plate amp but for now im staying with this 500rms one so i was wondering what 500rms would do for a q and which would be better the q or the tc-1000
9.5 cu's @28hz. I coulda/shoulda tuned lower but I'm happy with it. Placement has a large impact as well. Take that into consideration. I designed mine as a downfiring sub because I wanted freedom in a possible future placement change. Sometimes a properly tuned sub can sound boomy when placed in corners and flat in the middle of a room. Bass traps are something else you can use, depending on your room's acoustics.
