as a lot of amplifiers are rated at 14.4v can you upgrade the power from the battery in some way to gain 14.4v, and if you can would this harm the rest of the electricl system of your car?

with the car on, alternator running, you get more than the 12.3 V or so from just the battery. I haven't tested it, but it's supposedly around 13.5 V and up depending on a few things.

I think i'll grab my multimeter, and pack a snack lunch, go test it, and make a day of it. :-)

above idle, your car's alternator puts out between 13.8 and 14.4VDC. This will vary by alternator and voltage regulator.

If you upgrade to a high output alternator with an adjustable voltage regulator, you can set output to 14.4V
