Hey Guys, Im doing a box for a friend. We are doing 4 type R 15's. He is going for SPL. I tried to convince him to go for interchangable ports for SPL and Daily but no budge on that. What should i tune this box to? its 12 Ft3 before port displacement. could you also include the port area needed to tune the box to your suggested hz

er - correct me if im wrong & im no spl expert

but when u doing a box for spl u 1st find out the resonating peak freq of the vehicle by running a freq sweep so for ex if its peak freq is 45 u tune ur spl box very close to 45hz ....

42hz isnt to much a SPL box tho... 40hz is pretty good for SQL..

thats a better SQL but 40 is still good. It still depends on subs tho... I loved it when i ran 2 9515F's at 40hz in 12cu.... XD

thats too small for the R's. the lowest air space recommended is 2.25 each

the least i would do for any ported 15" sub is 3cuft but closer to 4cuft is the norm for some 15s ...

straight from the dd website

You need more port area for a clean sounding, high output system. The DD port formula is this: 16 sqin of port area per cubic foot of box volume.

agreed in a major way with rob dont do a 48 hz tune highest I would go is 40 hz but I HATE the lack of fullness the subs have at that tune and beat on them too hard with the wrong frequencies and your in for fried subs
