Built in cross over or not?

A lot of the new amps have built in cross overs...I am very old school and I'm used to having separate components for everything.

My question is...are the built in cross overs good to use, good enough for competition?

If it's a good brand, they're usually of good enough quality. Although a high end external crossover would probably do a better job. I highly doubt you would be able to hear the difference unless the amp was of low quality.

Most good HUs have very good crossovers though.

Don't you mean "Bridge a single amp to two 12's"

That would depend on the amp.

You don't "croos over" a single amp. You connect the 2 subs either in parallel or series, depending on the amp's minimum ohm requirement.

This site shows you how to wire subs in different configs.
