Thursday, August 02, 2007 - 01:57 GMT i've asked this before and gotten answers but never really understood it. if you upgrade your HU from 2 to 5v preamps then you can turn your gains up higher. the higher the gain the louder the sub to the ear at least. but everyone says that higher voltage preamps don't make your system louder. i guess i'm stupid but i just don't understand

Thursday, August 02, 2007 - 02:29 GMT inmcreases voltage from your amp signal to HU. your gains are then turned DOWN. creates a cleaner sound. (personally, i dont notice a difference)

Thursday, August 02, 2007 - 03:28 GMT with a higher volatge being fed to an amp whether its from the HU or from a preamp u turn DOWN the gain u can buy a line driver unit instead of a preamp IMO - i personally observe a higher preout always gave a better performance from the amp .....

Thursday, August 02, 2007 - 03:42 GMT First of all let me clarify something: Turning the gain DOWN = turning it toward the higher voltage = making it less sensitive. A higher preamp voltage reduces noise in the system. I cannot usually notice the difference though.
