I personally compete with an older prototype and I am very happy with it. This monster can take some serious power, more then I have at the moment that is for sure. Many people did not think that this driver was going to make it, but Mark listened to the people and pushed forward with it.

Thiele-Small parameters:

Fs = 36.60 Hz
Re = 3.60 ohms[dc]
Qt = 0.32
Qes = 0.35
Qms = 3.65
Mms = 271.25 grams
Rms = 17.083555 kg/s
Cms = 0.000070 m/N
Vas = 19.38 liters
Sd= 444.88 cm^2
Bl = 25.199953 Tm
ETA = 0.26 %
Lp(2.83V/1m) = 89.69 dB

rms; 2,500 watts

The big secret is China, and many of the same parts other companies use.

No way in the world to get that sub built in the US for this price.

Yep, same place as the HDC3. Also, the spyder isn't going to take a beating for a long time and not sag. If you change subs every 3 months, good sub, if you plan on keeping for a while, well have fun :-) Also, the magnets are generic chinese magnets that are pretty cheap. We spoke with the plant that builds them. Kinda a generic sub all around. Only reason triple stacked is because the "americans" like that look.

ive also heard that triple-stack chinese slugs dont neccessarily generate more motor strength but more of a cosmetic add-on especially when compared to a double stacked american motor with bumped backplate.

who knows if its true, just stating that ive heard similar things

looks nice but please dont tell me those are spring loaded push terminals on that sub.... 2500rms going threw those would suck IMO, my friend just melted one of his spring loaded terminals right threw the plastic mounting in the box from to much power threw it.. 8ga. speaker wire on my friends sub so i kno the wire was good enough.

BTW what would you expect from a budget sub under 200$ that does 2500rms.....Expensive american parts? compare it to a sub of similiar price and specs... your not going to find much better at the price.

PM sent Rob.

To answer your other question, no I do not work for SSA. SSA provides me with a forum and they sell a few of the Mach 5 Audio products through their site.

Best,
Mark

"just wondering if the backplate was gonna be vented?"

I don't believe so, nor is there really a reason to do so.

Mind you, if they switch to an american backplate, performance will clearly be much better. ;)

Is it only going to released in a 12" version or are there going to be more sizes available down the road??

The magnet size is not really the issue, the voice coils and suspension and market need is.

That is for Mark to answer, he is in control of the future of the sub.

On a side note, the market for 10" SPL focused subs is not that big. Now, many companies are selling just as many, if not more 18" subs then 10" subs. Much of that has to do with people wanting the wow factor and not caring about dbDrag restrictions based upon classes.
