alright can you tell me what you got for a tuning frequency on this box cuz i wanna c if its the same as wut i got.

Inside dimentions:

22.5 tall
15.5 wide
23.5 long

(should be 4.74 ft^3 total)

take out .22 ft^3 for sub displacment

vent is:
15.5 wide
4 tall
16 long

should be .57 ft^3 for vent displacment

4.74-(.22+.57)=just about 4ft^3 after displacments.

So what did you guys get for a tuning frequency. I got 40hz and i was wondering if that was right.

ok i know this will be off subject but i need to know, what on earth does box tuning do, cos i just went out and bought a box for my 12" sub and i thought that was it. is it something you need only consider when building a box??

You would need to make it about 17.5" for it to be tuned to 40hz.

gotcha. thx logan. box tuning effects how the sub sounds. you want to buy a box that is tuned at the hz that is reccomended for ur sub. If you tune a box lower you get more low notes. If you tune a box higher u get louder but dont hit the lows as good. In most cases pure competion boxes are tuned between 40-50hz. Dialy driving boxes are tuned between 30-40hz and home setups are tuned between 20-30hz

i got 42.34hz

since you say .22 for subs and .57 for port that is .79 and the box is 4.74
that equals 3.95 after all displacements

if you want to tune under 40hz and ur port doesnt L the best way to do it if the box is already made just put a piece of 3/4 wood the full height and length of the port and it will drop your tuning to 38.25hz.

the box isnt made and i want to have the final tuning between 38-40hz. I just need to no how long to make the port.

At the moment the vent is 4" tall but i can add or subtract from that if needed.

O and BTW this is for a 15" HDC3(when it comes out)

Another thing what do u use to calculate what the box is tuned too?

i looked on DD's website and said for a 4 ft^3 box the port needs to have 64sq inches 16" long. I did on opening of 4.129x15.5 (for 64 sq inches) and the website said the port needed to be 20" long but dd's site says it needs to be 16" long

alright what if i do it like this:

4.84 total ft^3

.57 port displacment
.22 sub displacment
----
.79 total

4.84-.79=4.05

Vent:
4" tall
15.5" wide
16" long

what would that tune to?
