Underpowering type r??

i have my type r running on 400 watts rms. i know it can handle more because the rms on it is like 500 and ppl say it can take more than that. is underpowering a sub like this bad for it? let me know. thanks guys

you'll be fine, just don't crank the gain to make it "louder" since you're underpowering it.

true true. what happens if the gains to high? i have the gain at like halfway is that fine? thanx

if you have it set correct and that's where it belongs you're good. to high you'll send a clipped signal and fry the voice coils. did you set the gain by ear or using a dmm?

i set the gain by ear... i just set it to what sounded best and was clear

i have like everything to half way. the gain is at like 0.5v the filter is at like 140 and the db is like half way i dont know the reading? i dont know w hat any of that stuff means i just did what sounds good and not distorted. u wanna help me figure outwhat all of that means?

ctmike anyone? i dont even really understand much about gains or the amp settings. i just do what sounds best and clear. anyone got a link or care to explain?

Josh you need to get a DMM...$20 at Wallmart to set your gain correctly. Look at this to help you out
