Sorry to make a "which would be better thread" but here goes (i'm going for SQL leaning more toward SQ)

I currently have 2 12" SSD's on a zx1500 in a sealed box...

im thinkin abuot going to one 12" Q off a zx1000 or similar amp in a sealed box...

here it comes

how is a Q gonna sound in comparison to the SSDs and also what other 12s are comparable in price/SQ

why don't you keep the 1500.1 and get a q15?

i was considering that but idk if i want a 15" sub...idk why, but i've never heard one which is a bad reason not to get one, but I think i'd rather stay 12"

what is wrong with the ssd's?

the q will not be as loud but will sound a little better.

i have a 15 and i'm going to two 12's

but i agree it is definately a distinct sound. and you get the satisfaction of getting all that bass from just one sub. it is so bad asz

nothing's wrong with the ssd's, but i could get a zx1000 and a 12" Q for less than what i could sell the ssds and 1500 for so I was thinking about going a single 12" Q and use the money for some nice crystal comps...

damn, i wanna hear a 15 so bad, the SQ stays pretty tight right? Also, Your Q's have to get decently loud at 1000 rms or more right??

the q gets loud, but not as loud as a pair of ssd's. a 15" driver usually has better sound quality than a 12 at frequencies below 45hz. but with a 15 the bass above about 60-65hz sounds forced and more unnatural. this can be fixed by setting your low pass filter, but you won't have that impact at higher bass frequencies

BTW, i don't have a 15" Q, i was just saying that i was switching from a 15" speaker to a pair of 12's. i'm going from a AA Arsenal to 2 12" ssd's ported

mine could be for sale at the right price if you haven't made a purchase yet, but i wanna wait for the AA stuff to come out

also, could a dual 2 ohms Q handle a ED Nine.1 at 1 ohm (1200 rms at 12v) probably about 1400 at 14.4, but im only gettin like 13.9 tops

15" could definately handle it, 12 probably would too but i'm not guaranteeing anything.

purchased my ssd's last night, sry.

rumor has it that the new AA arsenal is going to be very similar to the Q and they're going to have a new woofer line that handles about 1800-2000wrms and be a total low hitting pure sq woofer. also the new assassin will handle near 500w and the 12" won't cost over 100 bucks shipped.

note that all of this is rumors from other forums, nothing definate
