Bass echoing

It only does it when the volume is turned up. What is causing this? Could it be distortion or clipping. The amp isn't over powering the subs. I'm pretty sure I have the gain set right also. The manual recommends you use polyfil. .Could that fix the problem?

The box is 4.11ft^3 total volume with 2 round ports 3x8.5 tuned to 37Hz. Custom built by me of course.
