Ground wire

I was talking with a friend yesterday, and he kept mentioning a ground upgrade.

I asked what he was talking about, and he explained that his installer told him that if he was running 4 gage wire to his amp, he should also change the battery ground to 4 gage.

I've never heard of such thing, and am just wondering. I can see no benefits to it but at the same time I see no harm.

I was just wondering if you guys have heard of this. I would think that if it was necessary, that would be part of the kit in the wiring kits.

Thanks in advance, to any responses.
