I went to the local stereo shop today which all of my friends recommened and talked to the guy who does the installs. He said for 1 JL Audio 12w7 and a ported box with installation would cost a little over $2000. Is this a good deal?

need measurements of that back hatch area to know for sure. Not much cubic space there if I remember from when I had mine....

1 sub can get loud enough, especially in that car.

Gotta agree with ct mike on this.

If you looking to be bangin louder, lots of other subs out there that can do it better for less money than a 12w7.

BTW, what yr camaro???

Ummm, not alot of room in that model year camaro.

Max width in the back in the well area is only 36" that give ya roughly about 1.5 cu.ft. and if you use up the section below the well area will knock that up to about 2.1 cu.ft. and if the box took up the rest of the area forward of the well area up to the rear seat, ya might be able to squeeze another 1 to 1.5 cu.ft. on the conservative side provided you use up every last bit a space back there.

that's fine with me, so do you think I could get two bl's ported back there

Two 15 BL's ported, not a chance in he!! unless the enclosure used every bit of space fron the seat back and up to the interior roof line.

You talking well over 7 cu.ft. of enclosure for 2 15's and if ya go ported, well over 8 cu.ft.

If ya went with 2 12's, port'em and do the design right just might give ya enough room not to obstruct you view looking in the rear view mirror out the back hatch window.

Well, if ya plan out the enclosure design right to account for the volume given the area the enclosure is going to use up, I see no reason why you cannot pull it off.

But, like I said, it's a matter of using the area effectively not to obstruct your view in the mirror back thru the hatch.

That's roughly $1275 for the sub and amp even at woofersetc. prices. This means this guy is trying to charge you $725 for a shitty pre-fab box and installation. Go back and knock his teeth out is my best advice. Violence is always the way

Whats the volume of that box Lil Rob and then we could match a sub to it for him. No sense in getting a W7 nowadays IMO.

is sealed is perfect any custom box for camaro that is going ported is very dificcult and worthless sinc ethe space you got is around 2cb ft max you cant port it except if is some subs specially made for smal ported boxes.

it will work good with fi qs

the ebp of the qs is 56 and it can get into sealed witout any problems.

or the ssd the ebp is 53 and will work with sealed aplications.

like i said to fit a good ported box in a camaro is really hard. but the box i have is pretty good and a drop in and with a pair of q's or ssd you have some good low end
