when you do a test tone i makes a sound that goes ((((((((BRRRRRRRRRRR))))))))))) from you subs.

it is used to set the amp gain with a dmm or when you are burping your car.

you will want to download a test tone that is within your subs xover range.

also depending on the box and your car, certain frequencies will sound louder than others.

why do you need it if you don't mind me asking? it ain't fun driving around playing test tones.

Chad, no dear. I like to hear music not the test tones. Just asking. To be honest, we have a club here of motorbikes and cars. And I am one of the admin of that club. so members ask for these terms. The questions I put here are always becase they ask, and on the other hand, I learn something from you Gurus. Because I just bought a Alpine type R with hifonics setup. So dont know about other brands and so.

I just wanna know in detail why they are used and what is xover range?

every noise you hear coming from a speaker is a combination of certain frequencies. the test tones are sound files that play specific frequencies for adjusting amplifier or car audio competitions (it makes the amp put in work, son). the xover range is a range of frequencies that the amp will send signal to the speaker. there are usually two knobs that affect this on the amplifier. the subsonic and low pass filters.

oh and killer is bullsh!ttin you
