Puting home tweets in car

i got some like kmart subwoofer set you kno how you get a radio, cd player with 2 speakers that have a mini sub mid and high.. well im thinkin bout taken the tweet out and throwing it in my car cuz im 1 tweet short, one blew, so i only have 3 now, what you guys think. just powering it by the hu no amp, also another question... what ohm load can a head unit take without blowing it?

Hi Rick,

Personally, I wouldn't take the time out to do that. Chances are, the tweeter will sound like poo and you would be disappointed. But, if you want to try it, make sure to rip the crossover out with it (if there even is one; probably just a capacitor). Your head unit should handle any 4 Ohm or above load. If you have a multimeter check the DCR of the tweeter - if it measures ~3.5 Ohms or above, you should be fine.

Home audio equipment is not designed to withstand the environment of a car (extreme heat, cold, etc.)
