So im ordering my Orion1200D today and im wondering if im going to need any electrical upgrades. im short on $ so i don't think i could afford an H/O alternator anytime soon. Will i be ok? Also, i have a 4gage kit with 120A fuse, will this work with this amp? any help would be great, thxs.

With that car, I am guessing you have like a 130 amps alt. Lets just say you will be ok for now, but you will want to consider upgrading to a new alternator when you have the money. You don't need a huge one, but like 180 or something would work well.

For the wire, you should be fine, but if you are considering ever upgrading, get the 1/0 now and save the hastle. You are the brink as it is now. Also, do the big 3...do your alternator a favor.

The 1200D is 1200 watts man, not 2400. Your 120A fuse is just fine.

Is your amp an Orion 1200d or an Orion HCCA-D1200? And to answer your original question, you should be fine with your stock electrical system.

Ben, Hes thinkin 2400max. Ben Q, that amp does 1200wrms-2400max. All you need be concerned with is rms.

i would reccomend upgraqding. Im running 1000rms and if i turn it up high i get mad voltage drops and dimming lights and clip the fu<k outta my subs. I have a chevy s10 (105amp alt)

im gunna upgrade as soon as i get the money...heres a vid of the voltage drop i get using 1000rms...i could turn it louder too but i would probly get drops to around 10
