i have wired 2 - 6 x 9 speakers 1000w into my amplifier (1000w also) and when i turn my car on it clicks straight into protective mode and cannot get it to work the speakers? it is in the boot so in a well ventilated area (not that it is over heating) has a good earth screwed to bottom of boot metal part. any ideas would be very much appreciated cheers.

disconnect the speakers from the amplifier and then see if the amp comes on. If it does then check the speaker wiring. otherwise you may have a bad amp.

1000 watt amp? Is that a sub amp? You can't use those to drive main speakers. You need a 2 channel amp.

I think that is PEAK watts and the amp is prob somethin cheap and is actually more like 75 watts. Otherwise, if mono, I agree with previous posts.
