Hey guys i wanted to know... i have a 18" eclipse titanium pro quad voice coil sub @ 1ohm and was wondering if it can be wired up to my new kicker zx1000.1 amp i got which is 1000 watts rms at 2ohm? is this possible and how many watts rms would the amp be pushing out, and if it is possible will it damage my amp or sub? thanks guys

it would be a weird impedance so there's no way to tell what the wattage would be... i honestly don't know what the impedance would end up being, but as long as you ran the sub above 2 ohms instead of under it than it should be fine... what you could do is just hook the 1000.1 up to one of the VCs to a 2 ohm load then you can just power one of the VCs... that wouldn't hurt the sub, but you would be getting virtually none of the subs potential so don't really expect wonders considering that sub needs 4kw

I'm pretty sure you can wire a quad 1 ohm coil to 2 ohms..

But why power such a massive sub with such puny power?

You can get 1ohm, .25ohm, or 4ohm loads from that sub.

If you already have the zx1000.1, wire it to 4ohm for now...then get a nice 1ohm stable amp that will fully power the sub.
