my friend wants to buy a 18 inch Bl, or Q. and we have only about 5 cubic feet, here are my options tell me what would be best.

18 Q sealed, you recommend 4-8 cubic feet

18 bl sealed, you don't recommend it, but is it possible

18 bl ported, you recommend 5-10 cubic feet, at most we could get 4.5 after port and driver displacement, could we do that and stuff it with fiber fill for the effect of a larger box

15 bl ported, probably 3.5 cubic feet

tell me what sounds best, he is relatively set on getting an 18"

you'll probably get a faster response if you either email him or ask this in the fi forum.

About the only thing you can really do is the Q sealed. And I would definitely add 4-5 lbs of polyfill to it as well.
With that space and an 18" anything is going to be a shoehorned setup... and not optimal.
You could get away with a BTL in that space a little easier... But Im not sure what you have in the way of power.

A single BL15 would work fine in the space you have too...

I try to get on Ecoustics at least once a day... usually later at night as a break from emails.

Thanks,
Scott

I don't see the point in them when you can just buy a complete woofer that does what your hybrid is doing.

Thats true...but why do you wanna be like everyone else. I like the fact that I can say no one has a sub like mine. Call it a flaw I like to be original.
