Paul... d@mn thats cool! Not too often I see something like that for HT... well never actually. If you can, post that one up on our forum at SSA. A full review and a couple of posts is good for a free Fi T-shirt too.

Thanks,
Scott

Paul... how much power are you feeding it in your house? What amp\reciever? I always wanted to run car audio in the house... but never can find anything to give it close to the power rating.... Dont you have another car audio sub in a HT setup to? The SI MAG i think?

The sub in question I'm looking for is an Avalanche. Might be getting one as it turns out.

I feed the Q 1000w rms. Dayton plate amp.

Scott, will do.

Does that look like it paul? Is it a REAL RATING? Kinda makes me want to grab a few of these....Do you think id have any power problems running 2 of these in my bedroom along with a 500x5Wrms for the surrounds or would i need to upgrade some breakers and wire.. and if so.... is it easy to pull thicker wire threw the wall in place of the old stuff?

Killa, the amp you posted would work, as a passive sub, no amp built in. My sub is a powered sub using a plate amp.

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?PartNumber=300-808&AID=1457539&PID=440939&rak=300-808&raid=44

A passive sub is obviously easier to build and currently the amp you posted is cheaper than the amp I used so I would go that route. I chose that plate amp because of it's flexibility. I can run my amp at an 8 or 4 ohm load depending on how I wire the vc's on the sub. At 8 ohm's the amp pushes 512wrms, at 4ohm it jumps to 1024wrms, just what the Q likes. Box tuning is close to car audio except HT setups tend to go on the lower end, at least mine is at 28hz.

I built/designed this one mainly for movies since my stereo/surround sound speakers handle the bass notes quite well on their own. This puppy was made for the really low notes, earthquakes, explosions, dinosaurs, ect..and it works well. I can vibrate clocks off the wall 15 feet away without it getting insanely loud. That's low tuning!

As far as your wiring handling two of these? Um, why? 1000 watts in your bedroom is psychotic, not to mention a probable cause to void your home owner's insurance!

Oh, and I built this baby to replace the 15" Mag I had powered by the same amp. Why did I replace such a fine driver? Because I'm as @#!$%! addicted to bass as you car nuts and middle age moves me into HT for my bass needs. And yes, I'm already tinkering around about my next project. Avalanche, Eclipse, TC sounds, new Mag......who knows. D@mn this is fun!Upload
