Im running a 15" SSD flatwind on a hifonics BXI 1206D amp at 1 ohm. I was wondering if this is too much power? After about 30 minutes of blaring it I start to small this wierd smell and I feel the dust cap of the sub and it is a little hot.
well with the flatwind coil they can handle about 1000easy and prob a little more. if that amp is on a stock electrical system there is no way it is putting out 1200rms. also hifonics are a little overrated so if you are on a stock electrical system then u should be fine
the first two weeks i had my treo tsxs i would pound em hard and they would smell like heated plastic. it wasnt strong and there was no apparent smoke. I believe they were just kind of breakin in because after that i had no smells or anything. i was overpowering them by about 500 a piece. But Fi's could be a totally different story
