should i get a capacitor if the lights on my car are diming and also the h/u dims too. will this damage any of my equipment and is a capacitor neccesary

a cap. is a waste. sounds like your charging system needs upgraded. how much power are you running and what is the size of the alt. in your car?

Use a DMM and measure the voltage when the bass hits hard. If it stays above 12.5v, then you're fine. If it drops below that, try upgrading the big 3 (much cheaper test).
BTW, what kind of amp do you have? Is it class D or AB? What is your alternator size? Do more researh before jumping to conclusion.
