I just bought a new GPS and I registered it through garmin. Now it says that my map is unlocked. Does this download automatically to my unit or do I need to hook it up to my cpu and download it that way?

I hear you can program them with different voices. Is that true? I don't go anywhere I'm not familiar so I never needed one. Sexy voices..FTW.

I thought about getting on of those mobile GPS units, but the problem is that the company can at any time decide to stop supporting the unit, and then you would no longer be able to get updated maps. Not to mention how expensive they are.

So instead I bought a a mobile laptop mount and installed it to mount my laptop between the front seats of my truck, like they have in police cars. I use Microsoft Streets and Trips software with the USB connected GPS sensor.

15.4" widescreen GPS display FTW

on the nuvi 350-360 it comes preloaded with us and canada. it should be ready to go right out of the box unless you want other maps and to update youll have to hook it up to your cpu every once and a while

alright thanks Daniel. I know it came pre loaded but I think you have to update it first but it seems to be pretty detailed right out of the box. I love it just the way it is so if it got any better i would want to take it to bed with me:-)
